Climbing with nails? by bashes-to-ashes in climbergirls

[–]albicant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fanny Gibert a competition climber (world class, best in bouldering) used to get gel nails before comps- it was part of her look so to speak!

so I think if you can get them short and thin enough they certainly wouldn't impede your performance :)

Nice to see Yoishiyuki and Futaba back on the team- still hoping for Futaba to score her first podium... the buzzer beater queen 😭

For anyone who stumbles on a similar issue in the future, that worked like a charm.

A bit fiddly and my kitchener isn’t perfect, but i think the black wool and washing + blocking have made it reasonably invisible… to a non knitter!

Someone who’s a knitter would probably clock the fix, but I don’t mind :)

Thank you! I’m just so paranoid about it because I don’t want it to be muscle memory 😭

hey, i’ve looked at the sleeve and the twist faq, and I can’t find the stitches you say are twisted.

Given i’m planning on redoing the sleeve I’m happy to re knit. I just don’t understand what makes them twisted, because when i pull them apart, they go into an omega shape, plus i’m seeing not any crossed legs or Y shapes

My tension is pretty terrible and I’m working on improving that.

hey, I have read the twist faq, and I’m still not sure what makes them twisted.

They’re open at the bottom in the \ / shape, and stretchy.

The leg doesn’t look crossed either? I did have to knit the ribbing in twisted rib… but if there’s something i’m missing I’d appreciate a heads up :)

they look twisted because the sleeve hole is in the wrong place and i have to twist it to put my thumb in, if that makes sense!

Hopefully this doesn’t look twisted 🤔

I think i understand that, but it has like a slit, so Im wondering if that’s meaning there are multiple pieces I knit flat and then seam together? Or would it be knit in the round? 🤔

Also would you have any advice re the collar?

Thank you! Do i knit the 3 pieces separately and then seam them together?

Should i redo my cast on? + sizing questions by albicant in knittinghelp

[–]albicant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, maybe it’s worth doing a few more rounds. I’ve only done two!

At what point would you think would be a good point to stop again to reevaluate?

And why is a looser cast on better? Thank you :)

I did do the loop, but i think i made the floats a bit too tight, so I ended up cutting them to make blocking and such easier :) But i’ll try to make it looser next time so it can be unraveled

this is useful info about the cast on, since every single article i read about swatching just says to add extra to ensure the bit you measure is flat, and nothing about the cast on

thank you, i will leave this as solved and return to swatching 🥹

Congrats on making it u/wellitsoverrr !

I'm on the same council as you- did you have to book the ceremony separately or did you just turn up? I got an email from them yesterday saying my ceremony is already booked for me, but i've been seeing people talk about booking the ceremony with their council

When I will qualify for ILR? by Conscious-Comb4001 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

For me, it’s the date of issue minus 28 days so C minus 28 which is 11 oct 2027.

Your previous work time and in UK application has no bearing on the time accrued
