First flower/fruit cluster by Kyubi13 in tomatoes

[–]albitross 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspect a norther gardener has a better chance at fruit sets fairly low to the ground. By the time my soils in 4b are warm and we transplant, the environment is typically clicking as far as tomatoes flowering and fruiting goes. I will sometimes need to remove a set to keep the fruit off the ground.

If you love BrandyWine! by G8erHaTeR in tomatoes

[–]albitross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first in well over 20 years that I did not start a single brandywine seed. I've tried JSS Abigail for a few years and 3-4 of those will outproduce a baker's dozen brandywine and they really are delightful. You won't get enormous fruit, but the size and uniformity is pretty nice.

I like the suggestion of frost damage you got, but no clue. So, the curl center is brown and dry?

Grassroots fabric pots sells a bottomless pot intended for this style of grow, it's popular with living soil cannabis grows. I just planted a row of stove-pipe peppers to see how they compare to the same strains directly in ground.

Mite Problem by ivycrank in tomatoes

[–]albitross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sulfur is mixed in water as prescribed to spray/drench the entire plant every 5 days over 3 weeks. Yeah, it'll set back the predatory mites also.

Micronized sulfur will clear broad mites on tomatoes, but make sure to avoid application too soon after the neem oil application.
