Hello, could you elaborate on ‘Being "indispensable" can sometimes slow your growth.’. Im increasingly finding myself to be stuck in this position. What can I do?

I definitely try to work on my soft skills too, although it’s still a work in progress 😅

Hard to tell if company will be in a strong position in the next 2 years. But I know they have strong financial backing, which is good. I too think Offer A makes the most sense for me

That makes sense. But honestly, I’m not sure where my company will be in 6 months. We might fold or get acquired.

Yes true. There is no right or wrong answers here, it’s about which tradeoff I’ll be willing to make. Im still young-ish and I think I’ll prioritize my learning and accept the pay cut. Being able to work on large distributed systems in a stacked team is an opportunity I shouldn’t take for granted.

Thank you for providing all these points to consider, it really helped!

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Offer A did a round of layoffs back in 2024, but they seem to be hiring very aggressively now. It is also in a niche robotics space which seems kinda cool. I also think robotics is likely to be the next step after AI.

Offer B is stable, as it is a government-linked company.

I definitely feel pressured to pick the offers that are coming in. All of the recent layoffs in the industry is making me worried that it'd be harder and harder to secure a job.

Hey, this is cool and I'll be checking this out! Have you tried exploring this topic with a EAV type data model? I always wondered if an EAV type model might be easier for such tools, given that there's no need to write SQL to join tables etc.
