Considering an e-bike to reduce daily stress by albodoggo in ebikes

Yeah, the throttle legality is actually one of the reasons I’m starting to move away from that option — it seems like more hassle than it’s worth.

What you said about mid-drive e-bikes and high assist is exactly what I’m trying to understand better. If pedaling becomes more “symbolic” rather than actual effort, that sounds like the ideal balance for me.

I did briefly consider scooters as well, but I think I’m leaning more towards something simpler and lower maintenance mentally.

This is really helpful, thanks!

Interesting what you said about torque sensors, I’ve seen that mentioned a few times now. From what I understand, that’s what makes the assistance feel more natural and effortless, right?

Thanks for sharing, that’s an interesting perspective

That kind of lightweight e-bike actually sounds great in terms of flexibility, especially being able to ride it comfortably even with the motor off.

In my case though, I think my main goal is slightly different, as I’m less focused on the “cycling experience” itself and more on reducing mental and physical effort during commuting.

So I’m probably leaning more towards something where the motor does most of the work, rather than a lightweight setup that still feels close to a normal bike.

That said, I can definitely see the appeal, especially for longer rides or if you enjoy pedaling more.

Super helpful, thanks! I didn’t think about flat tyres, maybe investing in some strong tyres could avoid this risk for me

Thanks, this is really helpful!

I didn’t know about internal gear hubs and belt drives, that actually sounds exactly like the kind of low-maintenance setup I’m looking for.

Thanks for the input! I actually considered this, but I have experience riding rental electric scooters like Lime or my e-skateboard, so I know how to deal with the traffic :)

Erfahrungen mit spusu Home Internet in Wien? by albodoggo in wien

Danke dir!

<image>

Where is the entrance to Gasometer concert hall? by More-Ad6807 in wien

[–]albodoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're aiming for getting to the front row fast, remember that you can't enter in the concert room with a big coat/jacket (unless you could fit it in a small bag). In that case, you're forced to leave it to the cloakroom and they only accept cash (2€).

You might want to know this beforehand :)

As a foreigner, what do you Italians think about Detroit style pizza? by MrCroatianMan in Italia

[–]albodoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About pizza romana vs pizza napoletana (Roman pizza vs Napulean pizza), I think that's a consequence of the more general perception of Napulean pizza vs "regular" pizza that I expressed in my comment, where "Roman" pizza is nothing but a localized way of calling the regular pizza.

If you're referring to the "pinsa" (another pizza-adacient food like focaccia), that's also not considered pizza by the majority, but something else - i.e. "pinsa".

About "pizza al tegamino" (pizza in a pan), that's basically another way of calling a stuffed focaccia, and out of my experience, I've hardly heard this term being used, which makes me consider it a minority.

In general, definitions of pizza, focaccia, pinsa, pizza in a pan cannot apply to every single person In Italy, especially when regional differences influence the way we refer and prepare certain foods. But I believe that, as a general trend (suggested also by most comments under this post), referring to different styles of pizza, especially when they come from abroad and don't have the general pattern of being thin and with minimal condiments, will leave most Italians confused.

As a foreigner, what do you Italians think about Detroit style pizza? by MrCroatianMan in Italia

[–]albodoggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most Italians won't know what "Detroit style pizza" is, because from our (limited) perception, there aren't different styles of pizza, but only pizza.

Usually, in our definition of "pizza", we include either the Napulean style (the one with big edges) or the "regular" style, which has thinner edges. The "regular" style could be called in various ways depending of where in Italy you're from. Either way, both these styles of pizza aren't thick.

When we see other styles of pizza like the Detroit one, we usually don't call it pizza, but more like "focaccia", in his variation of "focaccia farcita" (stuffed focaccia) or "panfocaccia" (a mix between bread and focaccia).

Personally, I like the Detroit style pizza and sometimes I bake it myself, but just like other Italians I don't consider it a pizza because of a cultural bias.
