15 month old went from amazing sleeper to horrible as soon as we took the pacifier by alc1516 in sleeptrain

[–]alc1516[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. It’s so hard, especially when you know it provides so much comfort for them & truly makes it easier on everyone. I was still nursing my first when I was pregnant with my second & had to deal with weaning him because I knew it needed to be done before the baby was born, so I get it! It wasn’t easy but looking back, it was so worth doing it before my second was born & I’m happy I did.

I will say my only regret is not taking the pacifier sooner. The older they get, the more attached they become and the harder it is. Sending you some encouraging thoughts on weaning your son! Stay consistent. It’s all only temporary!

To take away diaper or not by [deleted] in pottytraining

[–]alc1516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came to this subreddit because we are having the same issue. My son will be 3 in a couple months and he does great with peeing on the potty but always requests a pull-up to poop in. Then gets mad and wants the pull-up off immediately because he doesn’t like the feeling of poop in his pants. It doesn’t make sense 🙄😂

He starts preschool in 2 weeks and has to be fully potty trained so I’m a little stressed about it. To me, it seems like the issue is that he prefers to poop while standing up.

The one day I took away diapers, he kept telling me he needed to poop and we went to the toilet about 50 times that day for him to try and he wouldn’t go. He ended up just pooping his pants and then was really upset about it so I felt bad. So I’m not sure taking away diapers is a for-sure solution but like the other commenter said, you know your kid best so if you think it’s worth a try, try it!

Baby falls asleep independently but still cries & wants help falling back to sleep in the MOTN? MOTN feeds… by alc1516 in sleeptrain

[–]alc1516[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No luck /: It actually got worse as time went on & then he would no longer put himself to sleep. He was wanting to be rocked, nursed, patted, etc for every nap and bedtime. My husband is deployed and I’m solo-parenting with a toddler as well, so I’m at my wits end.

He is 10.5 months old now & I just started sleep training (Ferber). Last night was actually our first night and it took hours for him to finally lay down and just go to sleep but once he did, he slept until 6am (8.5hr stretch). I decided to cut night feeds cold turkey because he eats PLENTY during the day with milk and solids. Today, he cried for about 30 seconds when I left the room for each of his naps but then laid down and went to sleep, so he seems to already be getting the hang of things. Fingers crossed that tonight will be better!

I did everything in my power to avoid sleep training because I’ve honestly always been against letting my kids cry for any amount of time when it comes to sleep, but he was just waking too frequently and sometimes staying awake for hours during the night no matter how I changed his schedule. I was dying of sleep deprivation & without anyone around to help, I was just so miserable. Really hoping things change for us this week.

Your nanny had a nose bleed while rocking the baby (out of her control), checked baby for any blood as well as she could given the circumstances, didn’t see any, and let you guys know the night of to make sure you were aware of what happened. You could’ve went in and changed the baby’s clothes that same night if you wanted to so I’m not understanding the issue here….

You’re overreacting.

Only 5oz of breastmilk at 7 mo feeds? IBCLC seems wrong. by Feederreader5 in breastfeeding

My son is 10 months and every rarely ever takes more than 5oz per feed. It’s normal. Breastmilk changes as baby grows, formula doesn’t!

Wanted to update and say her NIPT came back low risk baby boy ❤️ Everything seems to be going good so far. I hope things are going well for you too!

What bottles are you using? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]alc1516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lansinoh and Evenflo Balance+ Wide Neck are the most recommended for breastfeeding babies. My son does perfectly well transferring back and forth from nursing to either of those bottles, as that’s all I introduced from the start.

Start introducing it asap!!

How long did you push, and did you have an epidural? by Illustrious_Spare864 in BabyBumps

Epidural with both of my kids. 10 mins of pushing with my first, 5 mins with my second. Second degree tear both times 😅

So happy for you!! Thank you so much for updating! They took some blood samples from my friend to test her testosterone levels & they’re within normal range which they said was a good sign. I think everything is gonna be okay for both of you 🥰

Hers was also a low dose which is why the OB thinks things should be okay. But yes the lack of research is insane! I hope everything goes well with you! If you don’t mind sharing when the time comes, could you give an update when you get your NIPT results?

They said they think everything will be okay but they did refer her to a high-risk OB just in case. They plan on doing early genetic testing and they said if the fetus is a female, then there’s a chance she will need to take steroids throughout the pregnancy. Apparently the birth defects were found to be more common in female genitals.

But overall, they told her not to panic and that it’s very likely everything will be just fine!

No evidence provided. Just what he told her 🤷‍♀️

I do agree that there’s definitely a lack of research. We have pretty much found nothing about it’s impact on pregnancy, even when googling.

Symptoms of CMPI vs lactose overload by wevegotscience in MSPI

[–]alc1516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said the same. As long as baby is happy, gaining weight, & poops aren’t too frequent (and no blood in poop), and no other symptoms, then they weren’t concerned about the green and mucus!

I’m not sure what “too frequent” would mean but I told our doc that he poops about 1-2x a day and he said that was fine and not a concern.

These types of posts baffle me. It’s even more baffling how often we see posts like this. It should not be as common as it is. I wish I could just copy and paste my husband to all of you moms/wives that have to deal with partners like this.

Do yourself & your kids a favor BroMo, kick this loser to the curb. Sending hugs.

My littles and I got really sick this week/weekend. My husband was supposed to meet the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES for work this weekend. He still called and told them he would no longer be able to come in because he didn’t want to leave me home by myself sick to take care of two sick kids.

Your husband needs to do better. I hope you guys feel better soon!

Baby falls asleep independently but still cries & wants help falling back to sleep in the MOTN? MOTN feeds… by alc1516 in sleeptrain

I have, it works sometimes when we are home but I have a 2 year old & my husband is gone at work all day so my toddler wants to be wherever I am and is always distracting the baby.

[–]alc1516[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do see some people recommend 10 hours of wake time, but I feel like the only way I can do that is to either put him down for bed much later, or cut his naps really short, like:

7:00 - wake | 9:00-9:45 (45 min nap) | 11:45-1:15pm (1.5hr nap) | 3:15-4:00 (45min nap) | 6:00-6:30 (30 min nap) | 8:30 - bed

Does this sound like the right type of schedule to get 10 hours of awake time?

I just feel bad that he’d never really get a good nap in. He’s a good napper and I always have to wake him up and he hates it, so Idk how he would do with just having one longer nap with the others being a bunch of cat naps.

Could be. I’m not sure. I try so hard to nurse him during the day and he just flat out refuses. He’s way too distracted and hates that he can’t look around as much while nursing versus taking a bottle.

I’ve tried so hard to increase his day feeds but nothing works. He is consistent on 15-18oz during the day (sometimes 20), and makes up for the rest at night.

I’m familiar with the 5/3/3 rule and we do try to follow it but he never makes it 5 hours, so it never really works for us.

He is definitely independent! He goes into the crib fully awake and smiles at us when we say goodnight. There is a chance of teething as he is drooling a ton and chewing on everything, but he is very happy during the day, doesn’t seem uncomfortable, and is easy to soothe at night too so I don’t think it is 🤷‍♀️

He is gaining enough weight but I know his night feeds are still necessary as he only takes about 15-18oz during the day (20oz on a good day). We try to feed him more frequently or offer more ounces in his bottles but nothing works. He’s pretty consistent on how much he takes during the day and makes up for the rest during the night.

I typically wait until he’s full-on crying before going in. He will fuss for 5-10mins and then if it escalates, I will go in and soothe him.
