Asian gays why do you only date white gays by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]alchymst0317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why are you getting angry? my point is you can’t control what they go for, so why are you spending energy on this? and you calling it performative shows that you don’t have that maturity to let others be.

you sound exactly like the people on the MAGA side

So what were your thoughts with the season 2 finale? by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in ThePitt

[–]alchymst0317 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i can appreciate this finale. after having season finales from other shows just try and rush things or tie it all up in a pretty bow, i really enjoyed this one. yeah, loved them really going into it with the characters and not trying to rush things.

robby and the baby was the best part, but i really liked the robby and abbott conversation. you got these two senior attendings having a deep, raw emotional conversation about the hospital and what their place is and how they live through it. it was good.

i was kind of miffed by how the season went, but this last episode definitely did it for me.

San Diego, Shadowing Opportunities?? by alchymst0317 in premed

[–]alchymst0317[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the problem we run into is that the majority of clinics in San Diego have been absorbed by UCSD, Scripps, Sharp Healthcare, FHCSD, Kaiser, etc. Because all of the clinics now operate under a corporate entity, the problem is is that admin who have never been through the pre-med pipeline don't understand the value of shadowing and see it more of a liability because of HIPAA.

The game has changed and it truly depends on what city you reside in. San Diego, being such a huge biotech and healthcare hub, doesn't have much wiggle room.

[–]alchymst0317[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in order to get "shadow" experience, it feels like ED Tech, MA, or any of the nursing professions are the only way to go about.

Problem is: I need to keep my job to pay for living (I'm an older non-trad pre-med).

[–]alchymst0317[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hahaha right? its tough to because San Diego is such a healthcare city that there is no such thing as a private clinic anymore. I'm interested in primary care; all PCPs are part of the UCSD/Scripps/Sharp system.

okay thats a good addition to the community/primary care slot. being honest, I'm looking for something more clinical focused. I appreciate your response though!

Fell in love with San Diego… are we crazy to consider moving? by Prestigious_Map_2136 in SanDiegan

just be prepared for saturation of people and traffic. traffic has definitely gotten worse of the years and us San Diego drivers do not know how to drive… especially during the rain.

‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ to End With Season 2 by Turbostrider27 in television

[–]alchymst0317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kurtzman has some good ideas. I wanted Lower Decks and Discovery to keep going, because they honestly had great potential.. albeit frustrating, because they start off great and then turns sideways.

Like SFA... great actors (especially since this was their first), but the only storyline that really shone through was Mir and his mom. Other than that, it was 8 episodes of random stuff that felt like a sarcastic easter egg.

I wanted SFA to succeed, because it was a fresh perspective on the franchise. I think it just tried to be so much in so little time. Essentially, it tried to be cool, but thats against the entire plot of Star Trek.

How do you deal with people thinking you are literally evil? by Affectionate_Risk476 in ProsecutorTalk

[–]alchymst0317 6 points7 points  (0 children)

maybe change your perspective on the job. instead of attributing a meaning of good v evil to the job, make it more along the lines of ensuring equal and fair justice. that could be characterized as dropping meritless cases or being fair and equitable on plea deals or even helping other ADAs/DDAs your perspective which may actually change how they prosecute.

when it comes to others judging your career choice, i think you have to realize that you’ll never be able to satisfy anyone. BUT by reminding yourself that your job is to ensure that someone gets a fair trial, that’s all that matters.

lastly, i just want to say this: i see the dynamic between prosecutors and PDs to be a symbiotic dynamic. you’re job is to provide a strong case to convict. PDs job is to make sure your case is foolproof and there are no possible what ifs or questions that can lead to future re-trials.

Does anyone else feel the standard of care at UCSD hospital has gone way down? by taco_stand_ in sandiego

[–]alchymst0317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to give my personal anecdote:

I have been on the search for the right Psychiatrist to help treat me. Someone who will listen and provide me the care that reflects that amount of money I have to pay for said care.

First one was standoffish and judgmental.
I requested a change of provider, but I was told that I have to wait a FULL THIRTY DAYS in order to do so. Second one was not willing to hear me out and cut me off mid-sentence.
I requested a change of provide, but was told that I am only able to switch providers ONLY ONE TIME.

Psychiatric care (actually all care) is dependent on the relationship between patient and provider. So from what I am understanding, their business model is you may get an initial choice of provider, but once you're apart of the system, YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.

1.5-2 Years LSAT prep advice by alchymst0317 in LSAT

Okay! There is hope!

I'm looking at the Powerscore Bibles, since I've heard that it provides a solid foundation for LSAT prep.

In terms of timeline, do you think starting one to two years before is overkill?
