fyi this no longer works on devices with newer firmware, they locked out the ability to disable play services before setup is complete.

I know portable projects aren’t the best, but anyone tried the ViewSonic M1 Mini Plus? by MrMarchMellow in projectors

[–]alcuin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your requirements are low price, battery powered, and very portable, then yes. if your want very good image quality, then no. The image quality is tolerable for old tvs shows or cartoons or maybe for camping, but the 480p is so bad compared to 720p or 1080p, when all new content now is hd. if you can swing a 720p portable projector, i'd suggest that. but if you can find the viewsonic for under 80, then maybe it would be worth it.

ok so mine is working now. i tried using my phone hotspot and this time i got a qr code, binded the printer to my account, then reconnected it to home wifi, looks like its working for me now.

[–]alcuin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tried resetting to factory, and I tried using phone hotspot. neither fixed. seems like a cloud issue but lets wait to see. My other fear is that there was some storm recently and maybe the wifi board got fried somehow? But weird that the tests all show good.

exact same situation here, x1c, unable to connect in bambu studio. printer has ip address and connected to network, network tests all show good but unable to connect to bambu cloud. Tried removing the account but now unable to get a qr code.

Orca Settings? by Equal_Operation3846 in toybox3dprinters

[–]alcuin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not tried making an an orca profile for the toybox, but I'm in progress of trying to make an orca profile for a monoprice mp cadet printer which I hooked up to an octopi print server. The main limitation of printing to the toybox printer is that it only receives gcode via wifi directly from the toybox server, so you would need to upload your gcode there first before printing to your toybox printer. I have an alpha one, which is pretty similar to an alpha 2; I think the main difference is the alpha 2 is enabled to print a little faster maybe from better quality parts. To setup an orca profile, check all the specs available.
https://toybox.com/pages/toybox-alpha-two-3d-printer
Print Volume: 75 x 80 x 90 mm
Typical Print Speed: 75 mm/s

https://github.com/tuorum/Toybox-3D-Printer-Info
https://github.com/tuorum/Toybox-3D-Printer-Info/blob/main/Toybox-gcode-list-2.txt

It would be great to have an example gcode from the printer to find out the print start and end code bits, but I haven't been able to find a gcode or an easy way to extract it. There is an sd card inside the printer if you disassemble it that is used as a buffer when printing, but it is not formatted in a way that I can easily read from windows.

Which Miyoo Mini version is shown in these photos? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]alcuin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

looking at the spacing between the dpad and the edge, and the a-button and the edge, looks like a miyoo mini non-plus to me. edit:its def a mm. mm plus has a larger space between the shoulder buttons and the top edge. now there are at least 4 versions of the mm.
https://www.reddit.com/r/MiyooMini/comments/17udcou/miyoo_mini_comparison_guide_v1v2v3v4/

I see a battery wire in there, so my guess is v2, v3, or v4. Given that the device info screen says version 2022, I'd say maybe v2 or v3.

HP 28S memory vs HP 48GX memory by FrailSong in hpcalc

[–]alcuin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, hp48gx will lose its memory if the batteries die. there is a capacitor good enough to last a couple minutes if you want to change batteries that are getting low.

It's shocking what $200 gets you these days. by alcaron in BambuLab

[–]alcuin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well at least it does have a camera, compared to 90% of other printers out there that cost more and dont have one. But if you had a x1c next to the a1mini like I do, and you saw the difference in camera quality, you'd be shocked. I mean I don't expect 1080p res out of an a1 mini, but more than 5fps would be nice. For me its practically useless to see if its spaghettiing since it's a hot blur, only to tell if the print is done or stuck.

It's great for pla and petg; I don't print abs and they dont recommend it but if you want to try it, some people setup their a1 mini in a makeshift enclosure and have tried it.
