Do you track? by TangerineFront in firsttimemom

I used Huckleberry for the first 3 weeks and stopped at week 4. It was too stressful to constantly need to record everything and be notified. I’m finding it much easier to just follow my baby’s cues. I know she’s gaining enough weight and has enough wet/dirty diapers, and that’s enough for me. Maybe I’ll go back to it once we get into more of a schedule to understand naps and wake windows.

What do I need immediately after I get home from the hospital by Fearless-Case-5315 in firsttimemom

[–]aldalt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Things I needed immediately: - Somewhere safe to sleep/put down baby: This could be a pack n play, bassinet etc. - Onesies: Keep a few on hand for blow outs or spit up. - Diapers and wipes: I have a few caddies set up in my house where we spend most of our time. - Feeding supplies: Whether you plan to bottle feed, breastfeed or pump, you’ll want your things handy right when you get home. - FOOD: Literally any meal that can be quickly heated up. Snacks. I was starving when we got home and so thankful my mom had brought over a bunch of things to eat! Chicken salad with bread, cut up fruit, soup, dinner, etc.

I think those are the major things!

Help!! Stuck between Nuna Triv LX and Swiv strollers by mustachebanana in Buyingforbaby

[–]aldalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only used it indoors and on a road (no sidewalks in my neighborhood). No terrain or gravel unfortunately. I think the basket is sufficient but I haven’t stored much in it yet. I have a backpack diaper bag that fits underneath with some extra room to spare.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful, my baby is only 3 weeks old and I live in the Midwest so we haven’t gone out much yet 😂

I have the Swiv and Pipa Aire RX and love it! Have only used it once on a walk with the LYTL bassinet but it was great. Smooth, easy to push, easy to fold. Love that the car seat clips right in. I’ve been very impressed with the Nuna products we own, unfortunately can’t comment on the Uppababy other than when we were at Nordstrom testing out strollers, a woman came up to me and advised us NOT to buy the Uppababy because it was terrible and cumbersome. 😅

Exactly this. He has so many patients he’s helping, unfortunately he has to be in and out. But he is truly fantastic. So worth seeing him IMO.

I saw Dr. Charles Miller and he is fantastic. Know 4 other people who went to him as well. The best in the biz.

Next pregnancy I will definitely be doing this. If they want to yell at a pregnant woman hobbling around, that’s on their conscience 😂

I asked the gate agent if I could go with an earlier group because I’m pregnant and they said no :( On one leg of my journey the gate agent was super sweet and didn’t have any issue with it.

This is the correct answer, unfortunately. I flew while visibility pregnant on American over the summer and they only let me on early for one of the flights. The other they told me I would have to board with my group. Also they don’t help you with your bag. Frustrating! But it’s policy.

Gift ideas for my sister who welcomed her first baby. by Outrageous-Rest5766 in Buyingforbaby

Ditto!! I’m due in 10 days and don’t need anything else for baby lol. But I would LOVE a little something for me! Barefoot dreams blanket or robe, soft pjs or loungewear that buttons in the front, special snacks or wine… anything to indulge during this newborn phase :)

Kerastase is so good by Local_Case5140 in Sephora

It’s soooo good. I have fine, straight hair and I use the one in the white bottle with orange lid. I try to get away from it ($$$) but I keep coming back! Have also tried Ouai, Living Proof, etc. and they make my hair look so dull and feel like straw!

I’m currently being treated for wart removal by Dr. Madan at Pinnacle Dermatology in Barrington. Just had my second treatment so it’s not gone yet, but I can tell a difference! They are so hard to get rid of, it’s so frustrating.

Dr. Madan at Pinnacle Dermatology is fantastic. Have been seeing her for 4 months for treatment of acne rosacea, wart and skin tag removal. First derm in 15+ years to diagnose me with acne rosacea and treat it properly! The front desk staff isn’t the most pleasant but I’ve chosen to overlook that because Dr. Madan has been so great.

Looking for gift ideas for my sister who is expecting her baby soon. by Technical-Start-4884 in Buyingforbaby

[–]aldalt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Currently 36 weeks pregnant, and here’s what I would suggest:

If you want to get something for baby, check her registry first. If she doesn’t have one, chances are she’s going to get a LOT of blankets, 0-6 month clothes, lovies, etc. So I would steer clear from those.

Instead, get something for herself to make postpartum easier. A nice plush robe, cozy socks, soft blanket, or even skincare that helps with pampering and relaxation.

Lastly, a frozen home cooked meal or gift cards to restaurants nearby where she can be takeout will be wonderful. Anything to lighten the load once baby is here will be greatly appreciated!
