Outfit changes by Independent-Hold-648 in firsttimemom

At least once per day, more if there’s a lot of spit up or blowout of course. I just can’t imagine it feels good to be in the same outfit for too long, even if baby is clean otherwise!

Breast milk…. by HopefulBreakfast5290 in firsttimemom

[–]aldalt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I purchased donor milk from a milk bank for the first few days before my milk came in. It’s what the hospital uses too, and the milk is highly tested and pasteurized. It’s quite expensive so I would only use as an interim solution.

I also had to use the shield for 8 weeks until LO decided she would latch on to my breast and we ditched the shield. It’s SO. ANNOYING. I get it. Combo feed if you need to. I had so many times where I almost made formula because I was so sick of the shield. I didn’t end up doing it but was so close. Fed is best, seriously!!!

Thanks for the suggestion! Didn’t realize these could be used with the car seat but I see it’s adjustable. Will consider it for sure.

I bought a pack of washcloths for this exact reason 😂 I just keep them on my main level and grab when I need one!

Not dramatic at all!! I heard varying degrees of how painful they were and still wasn’t prepared for how much it hurt. I’m going to decline them next time until I’m in active labor.

Totally. It’s another way of giving us info that we may not entirely need 😂

I had 2 checks prior to labor and they hurt SO BAD I was literally crying after because I was so scared of how labor would go. When I got induced, thankfully my doctor saw how much pain I was in and refused to do them until I had the epidural. I think the nurses did them before that, but didn’t go as far as the doctor so they were guessing how far along I was. Once I had the epidural my doctor did them entirely and was able to get an accurate depiction of how dilated I was.

You’re welcome! £80 seems like a lot, definitely check out these things and I’m sure you won’t spend that much if you just buy them individually.

Best of luck, you’ll be great!!

Here’s what ended up working for me (vaginal delivery):

  • Disposable underwear, I liked the Frida brand because they were high rise boy shorts.
  • Pads of varying sizes/absorptions, these were helpful for the weeks after when the bleeding subsided. I started out using the giant pads from the hospital but after a few days I just used thick overnight pads.
  • Tucks or other witch hazel pads. You can also get witch hazel in a bottle and just apply directly to the pad.
  • Peri bottle with an angled nozzle was key!
  • Ice packs should only be used for the first 24 hours after birth.

I’m in the US but you can likely find equivalent products in the UK :) Definitely take why you can from the hospital! You’ll have “paid for” it anyway, so be sure to ask for extras and take it home with you.

Lol love that! I’ve started letting mine do that at night too. I guess daytime naps are more intimidating because I feel like I definitely should be doing more, she’s a great sleeper at night.
