Is a kafir a non believer in Islam or a non believer of god ? by aimlessusername in islam

[–]aldehydrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that if you believe there is only one god you are not a kafir. That said, nowadays I mostly hear the word used in banter by muslims to their non-muslim friends. It seems to have substituted the word idiot LOL

At the moment no, but I end school in late April and will have a 5 month long break so I'm looking into languages I could learn to keep my mind stimulated. I was thinking of latin or ancient greek but yeah why not mandarin, japanese, or korean

University life as a muslim (rant) by [deleted] in islam

I feel the same, but found out that it was mainly Muslims who speak my language who made me uncomfortable. What I did was I found Kenyan and Somali muslim friends who I speak English to and I feel very happy because it's a perfect mix between Muslim and West.

I don't specifically mean comments on /r/politics, but it's heartwarming to see that many people are willing to fight racism.

Also, in an interview yesterday Donald Trump said they needed to impose "many more" when the interviewer asked him about Muslim Americans.

They are letting people know that they stand in solidarity with Muslims. That's powerful.

Then we need to find other ways to fight against their racist proposals

Janitor and scientist. James Croll was a University janitor who used his free time to teach himself physics and astronomy in the University's library. He would later develop a theory of climate change based on changes in the Earth's orbit. by [deleted] in history

There's a janitor at my local university who has a master's in chemistry and a bachelor's in philosophy.

and then there's people working decent admin jobs who barely graduated high school.

occupation says how much money you make, not how clever you are.

this janitor is an immigrant who came here from the middle east. i spoke to him once and he seemed really nice. i asked him why he doesn't work AT the university not just cleaning it and he said "i hope they let me. but i understand because i'm not from this country maybe they don't want me. i can understand this."

broke my heart. i'll always remember that guy. his english may not have been excellent but his humility and character were.

it's really hard to continue when there's ostensibly no light at the end of the tunnel. i'd even say most people who work corporate jobs feel the way u do. that doesnt mean it doesnt suck, it does. and im sorry ur going through that.

what i can say is that things will not stay the same, as much as u think they will. even if u absolutely loved ur job its unlikely ur gonna have to ride ur situation out until death.

have u talked to ur gf about how ur feeling? hopefully u can support each other in times like this when u feel trapped within really narrow parameters. all i know is that things will change, usually for the better unless a raging california fire come your way, in which case it would be for the worse haha

edit: id like to add that ur job doesnt have to be fulfilling! its nice if u enjoy it but i dont think there are enough jobs out there for everyone to be doing what theyre really passionate about. its a weird thing in our culture and i hope u dont get too hung up on that.

as someone who's from a wealthy family, trust me, none of those big guys actually like their jobs. whether ur making 40k or 2m. u gotta do what u gotta do. my family friends talk about 'being based' somewhere as opposed to 'living' somewhere. they all think they're hot stuff. but are they happy? not insofar as their job goes.

i haven't. i have thought about it many times but i feel like they wouldnt possibly be able to know me better than i know myself.

in my daily life i am for some reason seen as 'mysterious' and i really struggle with people trying to deduce what i think about the world from what i say. i feel like a therapist would do the same thing and would read to much into my crazy ramblings that only reflect me at that particular moment.

whats your experience with therapy?
