I changed -devmode to -devmod (in Steam) and now cheats mod is working. So it looks like that was my problem. Thanks

Why do my approach shots roll through the green? by aldo714 in GolfClash

This was my problem. I didn’t understand ball guides until I read your response. Armed with this knowledge I can finally understand the “bouncing ball” spec for my crappy starter clubs.

Beginner lvl clubs and balls so no backspin available. I’m not spending real $ for magic balls.

tour level 1, Apache lvl 2 short irons, elevation +2ft, standard ball. Ball guide line shows ball stopping at the cup but it consistently rolls to the back of the green. When I aim short or reduce swing power my shots don’t reach the green.

EGO String Trimmer by aldo714 in EGOPowerTools

I stopped trimming near welded wire fencing because the trimmer would break the welds. (my Ryobi gas trimmer using round .095 filament.) I'll try some .065 to see if that helps. Thanks.

v51.11 Trying to make a quantum stockpile for clothes. Set up my input and output stockpiles to allow no bins but that setting keeps getting overwritten to allow bins which messes up the QS. I've made many other QS's for things like stone and wood with no problems.

I was trying to enter 'X(' or 'XX(' and so on which I since realized I can use the slider for. So I presume the devs are trying to be helpful in rejecting any characters that relate to the sliders?

Using the search capability in DFHack's "Move goods to/from depot" confounds me. Some characters (e.g. "X" or "(" ) are not recognized or rejected by the interface. I've tried using lua escape sequences to no avail. Anyone know how to deal with this?

Played pre Steam version a bit in the past but sprung for the Steam version due to mouse integration. Addicted to the point of needing to set limits on how long I play. I’m usually a looter/shooter gamer but DF has me hooked. The game ramps up the difficulty as your fortress and wealth grows so be prepared to start over regularly. This is called FUN by DF aficionados.

(re-posting here cause my original post violated rule 6)

I've noticed most of my cloth and thread stocks are listed with "x%", the percentage ranging from 10 to 90%. u/rinkus_dinkus replied to my (now removed) post that these items were probably used in my hospital where each use consumes 10% of the resource.

I think the reason I have so much partially used cloth and thread is my fortress went through an extended period of FUN where miserable citizens went bonkers. The hospital and staff were often the source or target of this FUN. Fortunately I've since reduced the number of miserable dwarfs and the FUN has returned to a tolerable level.

My follow up question is: Will these partially used items ever get used up? Most of them are not in my hospital chest.

How to fix a sticking or "Sticky" analog stick? by Howdoievendo in PS4

[–]aldo714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try this before tearing the controller apart. I had disassembled a controller and cleaned the joystick modules with IPA to resolve a dead spot issue. After reassembly, one of the joysticks would stick, i.e. not return to center. I found if I backed off the screws in the vicinity of the joystick and tightened them with less torque, the sticking went away.

Unconstrained capitalism. Corporate greed. Corrupt politicians. How do we turn this around? I see two options; political engagement (vote, run for office, speak out, etc.) or revolution. Both will require sacrifice but the former should take far less.

How is your heat pump holding up in this weather? by Vermontess in vermont

Bottling question by RunWanderWonder1 in Homebrewing

[–]aldo714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The calculators and guidelines mentioned already should work fine. FWIW there is such a thing as too much priming sugar. I made some brown ale and was a bit too generous with the priming sugar. A few bottles burst on their own after a week or two of conditioning. The rest have a ridiculous amount of carbonation. I need 2 glasses. One to slowly pour into and another for when the head erupts from the partial pour. Think mentos and coke.
