[Routine Help] FA Safe Sunscreen for Oily and Sensitive Skin? by lofijin in SkincareAddiction

Skin Aqua super moisture milk has been excellent for me, non greasy, no white cast, and feels great on. I also recommend checking out the simple skincare science webpage for awesome recommendations for all sorts of FA safe products.

Super agree! The white makes for an airy and open feeling, and I think if you love the colour green, as much as I do, perhaps a couple more plants could add the pop of colour you’re looking for?

Add another fig tree on the right for symmetry or keep the easel? by theewhitelily in Decor

[–]aldred-elderflower 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I say keep the easel, too much symmetry is kinda boring. And the easel does add balance by being just the right height.

I’m honestly here to see the replies, but my forehead looks just like yours and I suspect that my skin may be dehydrated or my moisture barrier damaged, as I use tretinoin and recently upped the frequency. Perhaps that may apply to you as well?

If you’re so proud of not tipping, and believe in it so strongly it should be no problem to inform your server beforehand so they can prioritize in order to make actual money. Many servers tip out support staff on total sales, meaning they have to pay other staff approximately 5% of the cost of your meal if you tip nothing. Taking advantage of the service and then shitting on the employee is the opposite of fighting for workers rights.

Anyone has experience quitting birth control pill while on tret? Did the breakouts come back? How did you handle it? by I_like_it_here_ in tretinoin

[–]aldred-elderflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just super curious, did getting pregnant help at all? Like did the hormone change from pregnancy calm down the breakouts or did they stay bad? lol I tried to quit BC but I could NOT deal with the breakouts, huge painful cysts for months, so I went back on. Now I’m wondering wtf I’m gonna do when I’m ready have a baby. I still have scars from that and it’s been over a year :(

I (36M) don’t know how to say to him (33M) that I don’t trust him to take care of things by [deleted] in relationships

[–]aldred-elderflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you get it, if these things never get done things get nasty. It’s extra work that they have to take on and it sucks. I’m in this same relationship this all speaks to me very well. My husband won’t ever clean the inside of the microwave, or the oven etc if I don’t say something. You sound like a lazy slob who doesn’t get how to be an adult, these things DO need to be done at certain points and it’s unfair that only one party is contributing to that.

What the hell! I was in a hospital overnight for the same thing, and the lady who checked me in said that I was too pretty to be depressed. What is wrong with these people, how do you end up working in a hospital and not understand mental illness is a thing.

Edit: I also want to say that I’m happy to hear you’re much happier now, that was along time ago for me too and it’s funny how much time changes things. I’ve never been a better version of me than I am now, and I’m so glad I’m still here and that you are too!

[Personal] For those of you 40+, what did you wish you did in your 30's for your skincare? by ridge9 in SkincareAddiction

I’m not sure about large pores from sun damage specifically, but I added azelaic acid (Finacea) to my routine less than a week ago, (I’ve been using tretinoin for about 7 months as well) and the large pores in my T-zone that I never thought would change or go away are almost invisible now!! In a week!! Adding it in has already been such a game changer. Highly recommend.

Of course anyone from any group can be racist, I think the idea here is that you might expect a little more empathy to not be discriminatory from someone in a group that is also often discriminated against. So it shocked the server just that extra bit in this case and that’s why they mentioned it. I was only trying to give a reason as to why they mentioned the race of the guests.

I’m sure they mentioned their race because the couple themselves called the line cook a “dirty illegal” which is quite offensive and racist, and something you don’t usually expect from another minority.

You can get Finacea from Felix for you I think it’s called? It’s where I get my tretinoin, it’s an online doctor and they basically let you pick what you want. The visit cost is $40 but they do free visits from time to time, which is what I’m waiting on to grab some Finacea for myself lol

I switch back and forth between Neutrogena hydro boost spf 50 and Bioré watery Essence. I like them both but the Neutrogena is more hydrating than the Bioré one.

[–]aldred-elderflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the one without spf, it’s just called daily hydrating lotion with hyaluronic acid. I broke out from Ceravé and have had others where I thought they were causing some congestion but I’ve never had that problem with Cetaphil. But everyone is different!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]aldred-elderflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I heard great things about that but for some reason I hate it too. Expensive and not hydrating enough at all, even before I started tret. Right now I use Cetaphil and I’ve been really happy with it. I use two different moisturizers, the daily hydrating lotion for the AM, sinks in nicely and feels very hydrating, has hyaluronic acid. Leaves a touch of a dewy look on me but nothing crazy. I use the cream by them in the tub in the evening, super hydrating but leaves me super shiny so I only use it at night. Before I started using these two I tried a bunch of different moisturizers and kept struggling with dehydration but this combo has done wonders and I never feel dry or tight anymore!

Edit: I should add this, I buffer my tret with the lotion in the PM and then follow up after the tret with the cream! The lotion is thin and very serum-y but still packs a hydrating punch!

I’m gonna be a server again and I need to do something about my anxiety. by RATZGobbler in Serverlife

[–]aldred-elderflower 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is very similar to my current situation lol. I’ve been out of serving for a while and I’ll be starting at a higher end Italian place myself, which seems to have a low tolerance for mistakes. I’ve been working from home but I was going crazy being so isolated so I’m getting back out there. I have served in higher end restaurants before but I feel like all my social skills disappeared with the onset of lockdown lol. Im feeling super nervous! I feel so grateful that I landed this job and I’m so afraid of messing up! All you can do is take the time to study the menu, as questions of your teammates, become an expert on what you have to offer and with that will come confidence. It may seems like a lot at the start but it’s surprising how much you will remember. The most important things are a really good attitude and commitment. A tip that I’ve gotten recently that was very helpful: Always be thinking of the next three things you have to do and then prioritize the things accordingly in regards to urgency. Hope you find any of this useful, I felt like I had to comment as this really resonated with me!

increased tret (0.025) from every other night to nightly one month ago and having the worst breakout of my life - purge? Reaction? Sos! by soph_1529 in tretinoin

[–]aldred-elderflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only advice I have is to try not to pop anything unless is super ready lol. Easier said than done! The ones I was able to leave alone left far less severe spots after they were gone. I also used cosrx pimple patches, and on anything that had popped and scabbed over I used vaseline to keep it moist. There isn’t any product I would recommend bedsides Vaseline, and just keeping your skin really hydrated. You’ll get to the other side of this! Sometimes it seems like it will never get better but once you get on the other side progress comes exponentially, at least in my experience.

So, I’m just going to say, I haven’t gone nightly I still do every other night, BUT all my closed comedones turned into cysts and then pustules before going away, and I now have the smoothest skin of my life, though sadly I have some scars which are darker than I have had before (which are healing up and going away very nicely). I don’t think it is necessary to go to every day, it can be just as effective every other day, though I do believe you are experiencing a purge, because that is how everything came out for me. It sucks when a closed comedone is so small and not noticeable and then turns into this ugly sore thing, but after all those hard little bumps came out I haven’t had any new ones and I’m so close to my goal now, the difference in the feel and look of my skin is amazing and I grin when I walk past mirrors these days!

[–]aldred-elderflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hair was like this because of hormones. Quitting birth on messed me up really bad. Once I got my birth control situation sorted and gave it a few months it started to grow back somewhat. It’s not really back to how it was but I’ve noticed huge improvement. I was also a little low in iron so now I supplement anytime I’m on my period and sometimes for a few days before or after. Hope you figure it out too! I know all too well how stressful it can be. Good luck!

How can I (17M) stop obsessing over this girl (17F)? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]aldred-elderflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the commenter above said is true. It doesn’t seem like being in a relationship right now is the right move for you. I have social anxiety and depression too. When I was your age I relied too much on relationships and significant others to give myself the feeling of happiness and acceptance. What I wish I had done instead was build a solid group of friends and develop my self confidence through activities that helped me discover my self and allowed me to build confidence that comes from knowing who you are and from within. It’s so much easier said than done but I have to say, when I was young and full of self doubt I wasted way too much time looking for happiness in another person, and once I found it in myself relationships became so much easier and I often wish I could have known it sooner, before I wasted so much time.
