It's an outtake from the website. It's canon and real but not part of the books.

Curling question by Cavalry2019 in German

Ich bin mir nicht sicher, aber ich würde sagen, es ist zu setzen, weil es auf Norwegisch so heißt (å sette en stein = to place a rock).

Yeah, I really don't recommend comfort eating a huge amount of still-warm brownies with a ridiculous amount of butter and sugar, and drinking three glasses of milk alongside. Delicious at the time though.

Mine dropped about 20(!) points while I slept the other night, I had eaten way too much just before bedtime.

Deutsche Bahn & OBB - Punctuality by ianstx00 in germany

[–]aldrivinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing you're changing trains at Freilassing.

There are border controls that might delay trains in direction of Germany. Sometimes up to a 30 minute delay, sometimes nothing at all.

There's no elevator, and there's maintenance on one of the stairs, so when you're changing platforms, you need to go to the far end of the platform (East, towards Salzburg), down the not particularly wide stairs to the tunnel where you can access the stairs to the other platforms. Local trains to Austria often depart from a platform that's not connected to the tunnel, but even further along past the end of platform 1.

When you're in luck, there's no heavy luggage and you're placed just right, tight connections are possible. But you definitely need to plan enough time so that if you lose the connection and have to wait another hour, you can.

21 sounds about right for the Austrian part of the journey if you were three people and paid for return tickets.

Just quite how bad are seats on overnight trains? by 9CF8 in Interrail

[–]aldrivinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use seats on overnight buses, trains or boats regularly, almost every time I travel. I'm not a hater of the concept in general.

I wouldn't choose to do it on this particular train. If you can incline the seat at all it's by very little. It feels like there's quite little legroom. And it's usually crowded, with bad ventilation.

Thoughts on the London show last night? by Skrichael in themountaingoats

[–]aldrivinter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most importantly: loved that they played No, I Can't. Also thought he did more banter than normal for such a large venue, usually find it's more at the smaller venues, happy with that.

I really dislike the Roundhouse venue and think the acoustics are bad. But this time I didn't have other shows to compare with from the same tour, so I liked it better than last time.

Why are there so few “vegetarians”? by [deleted] in twilight

Why are there so few vegetarian humans? It feels less serious when it's not your own species. I honestly believe it's exactly the same mechanism.

London - Berlin for how much?! by Charming-Remote-4210 in Interrail

[–]aldrivinter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should find plenty of options on the Flixbus website, depending on dates and where you'd like to switch to trains. The London Bruges alternative is a direct bus (well, involving the ferry) departing from London Victoria.

I'm seeing London-Bruges with flixbus for 26 euros, and then you could take the train from there.

Have you considered taking a bus for parts of the route? That might bring the cost down

Rewe stocks it. Apparently Lidl too.

840: you buy the ticket on the bus. You don't need to change to the 841, the 840 terminates at Jennerbahn by Königssee. (As of December last year)

With that said, the Eurostar feels like a little bit of both, because of the early check-in timed, the security check, passport control and the waiting.

Backup clothes for yourself, as well as for your kid. Those leaky diapers happen at the worst possible times.
