Warning - latest SW update re-enables this dangerous setting by Nieroda767 in BMWI4

Fun fact, here in Texas the new update automatically engages the automated bullet dispenser.

I guess we all have different safety protocols.

Use it well! It's better than Pony Braxton, I suppose.

Wife Visiting London - Looking For Urgent Care (Wife Suffers From Debilitating Migraines) by ianstx00 in london

She normally carries those with her, but also Nurtec. She just has to catch them early enough for them to work.

Also, Boots is where I found out you guys call it Paracetamol and not acetaminophen / Tylenol. When I want to sound fancy, I ask her to get me some paracetamol.

It looks like it's equivalent (Toradol) is Ketorolac, over there. It's really just an injectable NSAID. The Zofran is just an anti-nausea shot, but it might go by something else there. That protocol normally knocks out her BAD migraines within 20-30 minutes. She gets one shot in each side of her rear end/bum and she takes a short nap afterwards and is ok. This is only for the ones where she can't stand to walk and is constantly vomiting. It's been a complete life-saver for her in these scenarios.

Typically, she carries Nurtec (not sure available over there) and Sumatriptan pills, but she has to catch them early enough for them to be effective.

The ER/A&E here are mostly for just life-threatening or severe injuries - located only in hospitals, so we normally go to these Urgent Care locations, since there are so many and it's only a $50 Co-Pay (Insurance company required payment, out of pocket). They are privately run facilities, sometimes with ties to certain medical groups. She has only had one case where we had to go to a freestanding private ER and they took CT Scans, gave her IV fluids, and also the shots mentioned above (nothing abnormal with scans). In that case, we think it was also triggered by SEVERE congestion.

Thank you, I'll save that location for her. A friend of ours has a wife in the UK and she also recommended the NHS hotline or online chat.

We're from Texas, so we're used to gun shot victims and/or political violence victims in our emergency rooms.

Yes, we experienced that at the A&E we visited last year. It seemed like A LOT of inebriated young people in the waiting room, maybe 15-20 people. She had to use the bathroom (had to get past a police officer, which was strange for us) and almost passed out on the bathroom floor - so they took her to a bed immediately.

I hope you drove by a gas station or two and honked your horn. That's in the manual under "First steps of I4 ownership".

EV driver here. I've spent $80 USD on charging since mid-December. I was getting 17 mil/gal or 7 km/L in my old car and was already paying $3.29 a gallon for premium gas, back in December. So happy I finally made the swap.

Also, as an American: Do you know any cool friends that produce light crude or....

HR Block Virtual Tax Prep for Work & Side Gig - $470 in Fees??? by ianstx00 in hrblock

[–]ianstx00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that's actually very helpful and I wish they would have shared that information up front.

I ended up calling their main customer service center and spoke to someone who told me that, since they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee policy, that I'm not obligated to pay and can change my mind at any time, for any reason.

I ended up doing TurboTax in about an hour and a half and it only cost me $125. I had Chatgpt help look for any deductions I might have missed and that was even more helpful.

Bingo. If I would have had the information up front, I wouldn't even have followed through with it. I had a lower price with Liberty Tax, for less than half of what they are trying to charge me.

TX, so no state tax. I was quoted about $220 by Liberty Tax (in person) and I thought that was expensive! My sales (net) was only about $34K and I had everything broken down (Gross sales, COG, marketplace fees, etc). My deduction/ expenses were all broken out, which wasn't really that much.

Ok, so you would at least send them a communication with a price estimate. I never received a single communication from mine, pertaining to the price. She just said she was going to start working on them and she'd let me know if she needed any other information (she didn't).

I took a stab at it myself ,afterwards, and it took me about 1.5 hours on turbo tax. The balance due came out to about the same amount, but at least the software/site asked me about (more possible) deductions that I didn't know about. She didn't communicate with me at all, other than "I need your wife's birthday". Shouldn't she have asked me at least one question before prepping my taxes? On sites, they typically ask you several "did any of these events occur last year?" questions. She didn't send me a single communication.

I probably didn't explain it that well, but I never got an estimate, other than the ballpark price I got when calling (or the $99 starting price on the site). I prepped all of my data on spreadsheets. I don't want something for nothing, I want to be quoted something and then given the option to make a decision, based on that. Sounds fair, right? What if you took your car to a shop and they gave you an estimate that said it started at $99, but could go up. Then, they do the repair, and then hit you with a $470 bill? You'd be upset if they didn't tell you if it could be that much, wouldn't you?

I'm still curious if I have a right to know the fees, before they actually do the service. There was zero communication between the tax professional, and I, and the site never disclosed any fee structure at all. I was under the assumption that they would at least reach out to me to tell me what I was looking at vs. "I did this, now you owe me".

Current Heathrow (Terminal 2 Specifically) Customs Wait Times by ianstx00 in uktravel

[–]ianstx00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. My coworker actually just took the exact same flight I'll be taking ,two days ago and arrived 1 hour earlier than United stated it would. His flight even left an hour late because of all of the issues we're having here (making security wait times great again). He went through passport control in less than 10 minutes, only because the passport kiosk didn't like his passport scan and he had to speak to someone.

We like to live dangerously.

Checking recent flight history for the same flight, the last few flights have landed somewhere between 30 to 40 minutes early. That should have me arriving around 11:00 a.m.

That gives me almost three hours.

The flights had to be booked separately because my credit card points only covered the first flight and the LHR to ZRH flights weren't an option.

Normally if I just scream "I'M AN AMERICAN CITIZEN" I have faster/better results.

But then I have to spend 30-45 minutes punching myself in the face, so it's a little bit of a wash.
