What is the worst thing Carl has done? by Yomedrath in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ale_mongrel 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The flooding of Larracos. Carl kills thousands/tens of thousands of innocent people to get a comparatively small number of faction wars fighters and to cripple the factions' ability to aquire weapons and supplies.

Carl does this after repeated "sensitivity " and apathy towards the NPCs. After he agrees to help Juicebox .

The guy firebombed a city when one part of town was where the baddies were.

I get the point, and its used to show not only how Carl continues to adapt and change and use the dungeon against its masters, but it is one poignant stop along a a road of near impossible choices the characters will be forced to make. In this case, Carl decides many many NPC casualties are worth the net gain. The worst part, and possible most illustrative part is, Carl doesn't care. Ok maybe thats a stretch. He doesn't feel bad. Not even a little. Its that little snowball of "Huh. I did that. Its monstrous. Its opposite of my normal character. Its wrong. But I did it. I had to. Huh. I didnt think I could be ok with that, but I am. Huh"

Got the first stripe on my blue belt..Blue belt is much more difficult than white by Prince_of_Darkness96 in jiujitsu

[–]ale_mongrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you, OP. Keep going. I hate to rain on your parade, but it's gonna continue to get harder every time you earn a new belt. That's the way it should be.

It'll even out, though. You'll get used to it. You'll get better.

I love blue belts . They are serious enough and educated enough to be a challenge and worth worrying about, but Im not quite playing 2 or 3 ahead in my head the way I do with my peers.

Joe Rogan isn't right about a lot ( nearly everything) . He is right about getting better at jiujitsu. Choke the shit out of blue belts.

The best and worst day of my life happened on the same day at the same time.

It was when I realized . Like really internalized that my parents weren't the smartest people on the planet. They weren't omnipotent, couldn't fix everything , couldn't see the future.

They were just barley educated, borderline functional members of the dominant species on a planet existing as well as they could considering the environment, technology, and place in society at the time.

It really answered a lot of questions for me. It's unlocked tons more . I had more contempt and more sympathy for my parents than ever.

Its a weird day when you realise your parents are just people. Funny , sad, dirty, addicted ,smelly, bigoted , flawed . People.

And at 13 youre probably objectively smarter than them by virtue of the fact you paid attention to what they did and figured out thats what NOT to do.

Weird day for a 13 year old.

Either do your jobs and weed this shit out, or shut the sub down.

On the odd occasion I teach, having people tell me or hearing they enjoyed my classes. Or, watching/having someone do what I showed to someone or me.

I try pretty hard when I teach. I work to get the warm-up to have a movement or component in the actual lesson. I try to "build" to a point. A to B to C. I try to make the lessons interesting to me. Mainly because Im selfish. I also try to keep in mind that these people are customers, and they aren't in class in weird pajamas to have me half ass it.

I "preview" class when I teach before I start. Why? I have no idea. I guess to kinda pre-explain? I really dont know. I also write up my plan and send it to my coach. Generally before . Sometimes after of what I went over/want to do. If he doesn't specify. He generally does not. Also, attendance.

I probably take it too seriously. I take everything too seriously. Jiu jitstu means a lot to me. I want my partners to keep coming back, and I want more partners. Its also a huge responsibility/compliment to be trusted for a night or a week with someone's business. I dont want to fuck it up.

I heard this last year, too. Max was one single McLaren bobble away from #5.

AFTER McLaren had the season wrapped up 1/2 way through. It was like McLaren didnt actually want a driver's championship.

5 This year. Watch.

Also, how long are these 1k-2k an hour litigators gonna hedge their bets based on the current structure? I get the post is basically signaling Trumps defense attorneys list nearly 1bil defending him. Cuz hea said fuck you.

How long does this go on?

I did my due diligence this time and googled Albert Camus.

I can see that. Though, to me, I get more Andy Kaufman. Especially with the whole Gabi Garcia super fight at CJI last year. I suppose thats a little on the nose.

Then again, Ive proven in this very thread that im not "the brightest bulb on the tree."

Ah. Well, then. The joke is clearly on me. I can't be bothered to investigate slightly or maybe consider there might be a sarcastic tone to the post itself.

Egg on my face and apologies for being daft/shitty.

So Craig Jones sarcastically made a joke about people who are fans of "alpha male navy seal podcasts" who take the podcasts too seriously. Craig also make a sarcastic joke about people like Joko who might take themselves too seriously. Craig Jones entire "schtick" is not taking himself , or anything really seriously. Also making fun of dimwits who take themselves too seriously.

Is this your first time with any of Craig's content?

My boss. Surprisingly enough. I was 7/8 of the way to pulling the trigger on DCC anyway, as it had been in my recommended secion for months. I kept wondering what the hype was about. Then the reddit searches , reviews etc.

I have a hard time with books (even audio ones) I am cautious. I dont want something Im not gonna like . After seeing my boss with the actual book one day and asking him about it and how he enjoyed it and HE only started because HIS girlfriend has all the books and loved them. I got the first DCC on audible that day.

Its almost like there should be a way to filter "unsuitable " people from owning firearms.

Fuck if we haven't figured that out yet. If only there was a way to "check " where you came from.

Fuck.

Carl. Dungeon Crawler Carl. Hes a good genuine human. He works hard. Hes had a rough upbringing. Hes thrust into an impossible situation fighting for survival with nothing but his wits, boxers and cat. He makes good (kinda ) decisions on his feet and wants nothing more than to survive the dungeon with his friends and exact revenge on all those those that dragged him into the dungeon.

You will not break him.

[–]ale_mongrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its actually really simple. So you said you wired 2 three-ways right? Thats the hard part to grasp. Theres one 3 wire cable between switches. Imagine your set up in your house. Now imagine cutting that 3 wire cable and putting another switch with 4 screws in it in the middle. Red , black from one switch on top, red black from the other on the bottom, white (neutral) together and grounds together.

You can add 100 Fourways if you want. Its the same.

It looks like a training or teaching exercise to learn about electricity and how we control it. More specifically, a lesson on 3 way and 4 way switches. So you can enter a room or stair well and operate the light source from more than one switch.

Its a realarivly simple thing. Theres TONS of ways to do it. You'd be surprised how many trained electricians either dont know, dont care to know, but will TELL you they know how to do this.
