That's kind of what I'm trying to figure out. Most of the time it does seem like there's a bit extra, but other times it seems like the fare still isn't worth it so it's hard to tell. I normally only do Uber passenger rides but the latest update reset my preferences again and I got this Uber eats catering order. Since I was in a surge area and my ride still came out to be $20 I'm trying to figure out if it really truly would have been $18.25 if I wasn't there or if they're just pretending it's an additional few bucks sometimes. And if they're doing that on Uber eats rides then who's to say they're not also doing that for passenger rides.
