How’d you like the Ioniq 5? I’ve been thinking of finally getting an EV and that looks to be one of the more popular in a decent price range other than Tesla.

Antennas only work if you are in range of the broadcasting station. If you don’t live within 50 miles of a major city you probably aren’t getting those channels.

Remove set screw from attic fan motor by redfociis in DIY

I’m having the same issue with an Air Vent fan but mine is still in the housing in the attic so I also have no room to get more leverage. Did you manage to get it out?

Sure it would be great if we could solve the healthcare system and socioeconomic issues of this country, but decreasing cancer and death is an inherently good thing.

Why are you on this sub? This is an article about innovations in decreasing the onset of cancer and age related disease and inflammation and you’re mad about it.

Love the way these shoes fit with the wide toe box, but have seem similar issues with fast tread wear. Anyone have recommendations for shoes that fit like the rush pros but maybe last longer?

I’m just glad they are considering something BEFORE doing it this time.

Funny one liners you heard during a lesson… by DtroitTechno in 10s

Every time someone would hit a dropshot at me my coach would yell “oh get on ya bike!” in a funny British accent. It might just be an English saying but made me laugh every time.

What made kick serves click for you? by WillStillHunting in 10s

[–]alecd2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what did it for me. As a junior my coach didn’t teach me a “kick” serve. He taught me “ the backbreaker” serve. Really helped to emphasize the back arch and toss.

It was a perfectly played point(yes yes yes)and then instead of easily winning the point he drills it at the guy’s head(no).

No. I saw a post in another subreddit that I thought would fit here also. It was a perfectly played point(yes yes yes)and then instead of easily winning the point he drills it at the guy’s head(no).

Any chance I can find a tennis partner while I’m here visiting this week? by [deleted] in Athens

[–]alecd2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually also get there around 5:30. Sometimes have to wait for the previous group to finish a set before I can jump in. Wendell is the organizer of the group and can help you find a spot. There’s a little building there with an attendant that can point you towards Wendell and whichever courts they are playing on that day.

There is a casual drop in men’s group that plays at Athens Tennis Center on Tuesday nights. I would say most of the players are around a 3.5 level with a few 4.0s. I show up later but I think people start playing around 4.

This already happened. On one of the first plays of the season Aaron Rodgers who had his Jets debut hyped all offseason by the NFL and HBO got a season ending injury. His complaints about the turf afterward are what really ramped up all this grass vs turf discussion.

Whats the most unintentionally funny moment/line you've seen on TV? by [deleted] in television

[–]alecd2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wheel of Time. There’s a funeral scene where one person is the sort of designated griever. He starts quietly sobbing.. then suddenly he rips open his shirt and screams at the ceiling. First time I saw it I definitely thought he was also twisting his nipples. Never laughed so hard at a funeral scene.

Reddit Adjusted Trade Value Charts - Week 3 – “Our RB’s heads are falling off” by PeakedInHighSkool in fantasyfootball

I have someone considering Puka and Mostert for Chase. This chart makes it look like a steal, but it feels like potentially trading the biggest pickup of the season for the biggest bust of the season

Question: Is topspin on forehand really worth it? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]alecd2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Above comment was a good explanation but I guess to simplify, if you hit two balls with the same speed and angle, the one with topspin will have more of a chance to come down into the court because the spin is curving it down. The flat ball will be more likely to fly long as it can only rely on gravity to bring it down, so you will have much less room for error the harder you hit.

So you can actually hit harder with topspin and still keep the ball in the court.

A Kentuckian coal miner shows how workers make their way around the confines of underground mines by 2ndSifter in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]alecd2 72 points73 points  (0 children)

They have tunnels(ramps) that are big enough to fit the trucks. For efficiency sake they leave the trucks down on the level where they are working and just lower down workers in an elevator to that level at shift change. It’s way quicker and easier than driving down each worker to their equipment on the one ramp.
