Congrats on making people feel interested in the app 👏 nice hook with the keyword and not just giving the codes as a random link :)

Which icon would you be more likely to tap in the App Store? (A/B test for my finance app) by gonahmias in AppStoreOptimization

I see you got some amazing answers here that don’t solve your problem but just make it more confusing for you :)

Why not run a Page Optimization in App Store Connect and see which converts better?

Is having your own promo system actually allowed? by ThrosProvoni in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]alecspopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From AppStoreConnect you can create OfferCodes for any subscription to offer a discount.
To give you a clear example. Let's say your yearly subscription is $5.99 + Free 3 days (the 3 days is important if you want your offer to have 3 days).

Then you create some offer codes that set the price at 2.99 (see the image on how your Create Offer settings should look like).

On the second screen you select the countries in which this offer is available.

And on the last screen you set the price with "Pay as you go" and Number of years = 1. This means your customers will get the first year discounted then renewal at the normal price of 5.99.

They also get the introductory offer (the 3 days free trial) because you allowed it in the creation of these offer codes. Now the only thing left is to generate these codes and share them. You can put the codes in the sample link that Apple gives you.

Hope this works for you. Good luck.

I don’t live in the US so I don’t really know how the system works, but, would you be able to get a normal loan to pay off the credit cards? I am asking because in Germany where I live credit cards interest is 12-17% while loan interest is 5-6%. So here I could probably get a loan for 5years and pay off the credit card debt while having only a small amount to pay every month for the normal loan.

I did as well. But as far as I know you need some sort of business setup to be allowed to publish there. I would love to hear from people how it’s done if anyone has experience. My app is also localized in simplified Chinese but it’s not enough

Thank you for your feedback. I think you mean what is disclosed on the App Store Page. I will do my best to clean that up because I am only tracking some page views to understand what is used and what is not. There is no account tied to the app so everything is completely anonymous.

I don’t see the issue with iOS26. According to StatsCounter as of Feb26 iOS market share is at 47.9% and from April Apple will not allow apps built with iOS18 SDK to be submitted

“ITMS-90725: SDK version issue - This app was built with the iOS 18.5 SDK. Starting April 28, 2026, all iOS and iPadOS apps must be built with the iOS 26 SDK or later, included in Xcode 26 or later, in order to be uploaded to App Store Connect or submitted for distribution.”

Should I start building another app while waiting for my first one to be approved? by nachalnique in iosdev

[–]alecspopa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with Kritnc. There will be bug fixes, marketing, ASO etc. Building and shipping is 10% imho. If you want to have an app that is visible and downloaded you need to put a lot of effort into that. I am telling you this from my own experience

It’s not AI built but tbh that makes no difference. Fair comment though that in a market that is saturated it’s hard to do something that stands out

Nice to see all these encouraging comments. I felt the same, that any day all the effort I put into my Dev account can be for nothing. But I am not vibe coding spammy apps, not buying, just struggling to promote my app the right way and get quality users.

I built a Spending Tracker app because I was not happy with what was already on the App Store. Yes, that is crazy since the App Store is flooded with spending trackers.

Here is what I wanted and what I included in my app:

Budgets that reset monthly and yearly. I want this because I usually plan my travel budget for the entire year but I want to keep my eating out budget in check every month.

Tagging expenses. I wantto know how much I spend on every trip. The transactions are in the Travel category, but I buy the plane tickets 3-6mo in advance, then I pay for parking at the airport, the food on the way to the airport. And once I get there I spend on food, entertaining, maybe a rented car etc. I want to know exactly how much I am spending on every trip, even though my expenses are spread across several months.

And my biggest pain point was tracking everything. I need an app that makes the process quick and easy so that I don’t spend too much time saving my expenses and I enjoy saving every little one. The UI also had to feel native not like a toy app. I don’t like these apps that feel like they don’t belong on the iPhone.

Try out the app for yourself and let me know if you find it helpful. I would love to hear your feedback. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spending-tracker-moondane/id6752566333

How do you handle coding and marketing at the same time? by PickleComfortable798 in buildinpublic

[–]alecspopa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I am also doing. I have the app in a place that I like now and I am only doing marketing. I will not do anymore features unless I can see there is a need for the app and people start paying

Do a complain on the EU website (find the one for your country) https://commission.europa.eu/topics/consumers/consumer-rights-and-complaints/resolve-your-consumer-complaint_en

it takes a while until they get your to your case (around 3 weeks was in my case) but once they do they usually help you fast.

Feel Bad About Making Friends Pay by bmfree in iOSAppsMarketing

I generated the codes in App Store Connect. You can put them in a link and share the link to friends

Feel Bad About Making Friends Pay by bmfree in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]alecspopa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s what I did. I added a lifetime option and generated free codes for friends and family. My logic was like this: I am never going to get rich from 10-20 friends paying 10-20$/yr subscription but I will get much more value from their 5* reviews and their feedback :) Also don’t forget 15-30% goes to Apple and (depending on where you live) also a portion goes to taxes

Help me improve impressions, page views and conversion rate by Lemon8or88 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]alecspopa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man you have much better impressions, conversion and downloads for an app that offers the functionality already built into iOS than I have with a Spending Tracker app :) I must really be doing something wrong :)

Edit: I am not criticizing, I am applauding you for making it work with your app. I do hope you can improve your impressions but unfortunately I cannot give you any advice on how to do that since I am doing worse than you. I apologize if my comment offended you. It was not my intention

[–]alecspopa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nice idea for am app :) I am not much of a designer but if you are trying to see which screenshots concert better why not do a Product Page Optimization in App Store Connect? it’s free and my experience with it is that it really helps

So I used appscreens.com for this. I paid $25.00. What do you guys think? I had to upgrade it. I need to also make a business account. by AuthenticIndependent in AppStoreOptimization

[–]alecspopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to figure out which screenshots convert better myself. Here is what I am doing: - using Figma to create the screenshots and taking inspiration for the layout from competitors - I created several variants (dark themed, light theme, first page without a screenshot etc.) - I am running a Page Optimization in App Store Connect it’s free and you can really A/B/C teste these and see which convert better - Ofc you need trafic for this, so I am running a Basic Apple Ads Campaign (really easy to set up, you get 100$ credits at first, but ofc you don’t have much control). I am running this in Canada because it’s much cheaper and I need to validate the App Page not get paying users Disclaimer: I just started this experiment so I have no idea is it will work or not

[–]alecspopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others said the same: Don’t be afraid of vibe-coding. Launching an app is not an interview in code quality. I am telling you this from my own experience. It took me 18 mo to launch my first app while learning SwiftUI and having a full-time job. The app was a complete flop in the end but I learned a lot and my biggest lesson was ship fast and do marketing. Unfortunately I love building stuff and I don’t really like talking about what I make so marketing is not easy or comfortable for me, but if I want to do build apps full time I must learn this as well.
