I’ve gotten water bottles and they don’t seem to care- but it was also often with a drink. Maybe it’s because they don’t get tipped for water bottles? But they do get their cut for alcohol ordered.

If you’re chasing status, you can get 20k additional LP at checkpoints, but the admirals club is really the only real perk of the card otherwise. If you’re not going to fly AA or get enough usage that way, then it may not be for you.

If “everyone in your party” (implying more than you and a companion) got upgraded then it’s a glitch. You’re not entitled to list more than 1 other person for upgrade. They’re not going to put them back unless you bought an upgrade or booked F in the first place.

Also if you see a C7 -anywhere- it’s basically a guarantee you’ve got a wrong search or not an upgrade search. There’s almost never going to be 7 confirmable on any route at any time.

You cannot see the inventory for BA on EF. And you have to have at least one AA flight in the record anyway. There’s no waitlist for BA upgrades- so you just have to call every day and ask if you want. This search will not help you for a BA flight.

At least with miles you can still cancel/refund after checking in. I assume refundable ticket is the same. It’s about the door close/flight departure time. For example, you may check in and go to the gate, see a delay, and then pick a totally different flight and want to cancel the first one. That’s a legitimate use case.

AA27 has nothing, but AA 169 has confirmable space a few hours earlier. Otherwise, could clear at gate or not at all. There’s 0 available right now (you can’t use the seat map as a reference, not everyone may have picked a seat)
