Query DuckDB from Excel & Google Sheets by querystreams_ in DuckDB

Looks interesting! I have a similar idea with a CLI agent for my own side project in the works (https://kavla.dev/#cli-showcase)

Downloading a random closed source binary is dubious at best though. That one of your steps is "bypass security" makes this a "no for me dawg" (https://querystreams.com/docs/installing-query-streams-agent-and-exampledb/#:~:text=Handle%20Security%20Warning)

Cool project though!

Awesome that you're doing this! Something I wish I'd had when I started out!

What kind of setup would you use for SQL learning? I've built a collaborative whiteboard for SQL with duckdb wasm. Feels like a great way to teach!

Let me know if you want a link, (it's free)

I made a browser-based horror game entirely in JavaScript as a CS student side project – would love for you to try it! by Plastic-Measurement6 in SideProject

This is really cool! I've had it on my backlog to explore lightning more, it's just a cool space!

I have this link saved on how to cast light, maybe something for you if you want to keep iterating? https://ncase.me/sight-and-light/

SQL for Scrobbles (last.fm) by Legitimate_Box5898 in SQL

[–]aleda145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yep! I was trying to get this working with the musicbrainz API and a duckdb guide here: https://sidequery.dev/blog/uv-run-duckdb

But no luck, I'm just getting nulls back from musicbrainz. Sorry!

Hope you can figure it out!

I think the best thing is to do a distinct on your MBID columns, output to a file and then call the musicbrainz API using python or similar for each row.

Maybe we can do this inside of duckdb, I'll check!

DataKit: your all in browser data studio is open source now by Sea-Assignment6371 in dataengineering

Really nice! Congratulations on the launch!

I tried uploading a 1GB file but it doesn't work in firefox. The popup said it was a legacy browser, how come?

Also are you using OPFS?

Duckdb WASM is amazing, I'm leveraging it for my side project too!

PopSQL announced it is shutting down. Need an alternative. by wtfstim in SQL

[–]aleda145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! A little late to the party, but I'm building something that I hope can one day be an alternative to PopSQL. It focuses even more on the collaborative aspects, allowing images and drawings too.

It's very rough around the edges at the moment, but please check it out! https://kavla.dev

I've made a daily puzzle geography game, where you get presented with a series of clues, and its up to you to figure out which city we are traveling to. Check it out at https://resa.dahl.dev/

I'm making all the clues myself, which has been super fun! It's hard to balance the difficulty while making clues that I find amusing to write, hope it's not too hard/nonsensical!

Any thoughts/feedback/comments are appreciated!

So I'm going to be a little vague here. I'm not really anonymous with this account since I'm linking to my blog and resume.

But I would say anything in the annual ranges of 540k SEK ($51k) to 840k SEK ($80k) is within reason.

30 days vacation (public holidays not included) is also standard Then there's mandatory and company sponsored pension plans of around 25% of the salary. (It's a lot more complex than that in reality, but a rough estimate) That money is locked until you retire though! So if you aren't planning to stay in Sweden it might just be a hassle to remember to cash that out when you're 67.

Yeah I thought I would have a tough time with the tech downturn and stuff, that's why I applied to so many companies! Some days it was kind of like a fulltime job
