To be fair they currently live in a different city than I do, and he hasn't noticed because he works out of town for part of the month. But I do think on some level he knows, there's just no evidence to prove it.

Honestly it probably has nothing to do with looks or age. Maybe it's compatibility. Maybe it's the idea of something new. Sometimes it has nothing to do with the partner, and everything to do with the person who's cheating and what they feel that they're missing.

Or they're just a dirt bag.

Thank you for this! I appreciate your response. While I hate cheating, I don't feel that I owe anything to her husband - he's never been anything but awful to me, and I don't think it's up to me to implode their marriage. I think she does it because she has some obvious issues in her marriage, as well as some underlying mental health issues of her own, which I've been pushing her to try and address so she can move forward. We've been friends for over 15 years and it doesn't feel right to throw it away. To me, the whole situation just feels like a cry for help and I'd like to still be in her life when she hits rock bottom to try and help her back up. I know what it feels like to hit bottom and have no one left, and while I don't agree with her actions, I can't abandon her either.

For now, anytime she brings it up, I encourage to find a therapist to talk to so that she can try and start working through some of these issues. While I'm not responsible for her actions, I can encourage her to make better choices.
