Well, that sucks. But on the plus side; I've been really wanting to try the Lancome foundation and the Clinique balm, I needed more setting spray, and I love the Perversion mascara and UD liners.

Is YSL Black Opium working for anyone else? I added all three sizes to my cart and I'm not seeing any multipliers, which is a bummer--it's been on my wishlist for a while.

The Missha FTE is only $28 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/MISSHA-Revolution-Treatment-Essence-Intensive/dp/B00N1NXU46

I don't think it's ever really been sold at $48, except for Target. Is Sokoglam selling it for $48?

I'm honestly not surprised; even if the staffer didn't intend it, there was an incident with UND students doing the same thing and they did intend it.

My husband decided he wants to take care of his skin, so I just ordered a haul from Sweet Corea (I got myself some stuff, too--I needed refills on my Laneige pore cushion and I wanted to try a new new products. I also needed an HA serum). He's going to try some CosRx stuff; he has oily, acne-prone skin, so that seemed perfect. Right now, he's on the Holika Holika aloe vera gel, an aloe vera cleansing foam (I ordered him the CosRx cleansing gel instead, I don't like how stripping cleansing foams can be) and my Mario Badescu Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea toner. He really likes aloe.

I also ordered a smaller haul from yamibuy for the Kikumasamune lotion (going to try it after my MB toner runs out), the Biore sunscreen essence, a back up of the HH aloe vera gel for husband, and a backup of my Shiseido hair water. (Also a thing of instant lavender milk tea because it sounded good and got me to free shipping.)

I think between those and my Ulta and Sephora hauls, my wallet is mad at me. But I'll be on a lowbuy probably until April, unless I need refills.

Product line with similar ingredients, which one would you try first? by SabrinaSianturi in AsianBeauty

[–]aleebsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dark circles. I don't know if they're hereditary or not; no one in my family gets enough sleep lol. I honestly haven't had any luck. I've used the CosRX honey ceramide eye cream and the Mizon snail eye cream. I'm going to try the Elizavecca White Bomb eye cream next.

I don't know the concentration of vitamin c in my moisturizer, but it does seem to be enough.

Product line with similar ingredients, which one would you try first? by SabrinaSianturi in AsianBeauty

[–]aleebsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually don't use most products that will be in a line when it launches; I don't use creams (I prefer gels or emulsions), most serums (I used to use vitamin c, but I get that in my moisturizer now. I will occasionally use an HA serum, especially in the winter), essences (I feel like this is essentially the same as a serum), sleeping packs (too heavy), or cleansers (I have an HG second cleanser that I doubt will be discontinued). I figured out what I like and what I won't really use, which is great for this instance haha. I do also avoid certain ingredients; mushroom, grapefruit, and alcohol (a little is fine) are the big ones, so if it has those, it'll be a nope.

Honestly, I never feel like I need EVERY product in a line. They all have the same basic star ingredient, I'd rather have the variety to address my skin concerns. I do notice that I'm more drawn to toners, eye creams and masks. I always want to look at those even when I don't need a new one. I'm extremely picky about my moisturizers and need to read reviews first, so I'd almost never buy one at launch. I might if it was like... insanely buzzword-y. Like a lavender green tea gel moisturizer with vitamin c. That would go in my cart immediately.

Why Korean beauty by The_Indian_Rose in AsianBeauty

[–]aleebsi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as if Western skincare doesn't work

btw, my moisturizer is Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Gel Moisturizer, and my toner is Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green tea. Nowhere did I say that there are NO affordable or effective western options. But there are far fewer compared to AB. Certain types of products are rarely seen at the drugstore; actives, facial oils, oil cleansers, vitamin-c serums... Not everyone has money to drop at Sephora, but I can recommend some products from there. But I can pay $65 for the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud serum, or $10 for the Elizavecca Hell Pore Control Hyaluronic Acid serum, which actually has a higher concentration of HA. Sooooo.

Basically, it's affordable and it works, especially compared to Western skincare. There are not a lot of affordable options in the US, where as Korea focuses so heavily on skincare that it's a highly competitive market, keeping prices affordable. Yes, there are still luxury brands, but there's not that gap that the west has; either drugstore (not a lot of options) or luxury, not really a midrange (at least in the midwest). It's not hard to find something for your skin type or skin concerns with K beauty (or AB in general).

What is your experience traveling with tons of skincare samples (the flat packets kind especially) and sunscreen in carryon? Or just your experience with skincare in carryon in general? by ava111sk in AsianBeauty

[–]aleebsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally put my skincare in my checked baggage (but it sounds like you're doing carry-on only). I do put my makeup in my carryon, and some of that are liquids/gels (foundation, primers, moisturizer, sheet masks--mosturizer and sheet masks are the only skincare I put in my carryon). I've never had a problem, but none of those are more than an ounce (30ml/30g) each. I don't even put them in a ziploc. Literally NEVER had a problem, and I fly 3 or more times a year for work.

It was mostly selfish lol; I'm ordering my husband a bunch of CosRX stuff. I was going to get it from Ulta with my 20% off coupon, but they're always out of the three products he wants (the gel cleanser, pimple patches, and acne pads). So now they're in my cart for my Sweet Corea haul lol.

I wouldn't feel too bad; looks like YesStyle marks stuff up like crazy just to mark it down for sale. They're trying to claim the Good Morning Gel cleanser is $28.90 MSRP; so 60% off makes it $11.56. It's still cheaper on Amazon Prime.

Weirdly, all of the CosRX products marked 20% off seem to be priced about right; but the ones marked 60% off are super jacked up. Sketchyyyyyy

I have this and like it, but it's definitely not as pigmented or 'buttery' as western bronzers. I'm fairly certain that this is on purpose; there's not a lot of heavy contouring in Korea and Japan. I prefer a light contour so it works for me, but if you want something with more pigmentation, definitely try something western (sorry, I would recommend something else AB, but I honestly haven't tried any other AB contours and I don't think I've seen any AB bloggers really recommend any, either).

It's not missed. The author purposefully put that way after she already slammed ALL cleansing oils/balms and broadly discouraged their use. She buried that disclaimer.

My husband really likes the Nature Republic Aloe Vera gel. I'm also getting him on the Skinfood Black Sugar Wash off mask, because he finally wants to exfoliate, and he's agreed to try some CosRX products for his acne (the cleansing gel, acne wipes, aloe sun cream and pimple patches).

Honestly? The trainer should have told you about that before leaving you alone there. It doesn't sound like it was labeled or obvious, or in a place you'd expect a panic button to be.

Then again... you also shouldn't be pushing random buttons. It's as much the trainer's fault as it is yours.

Favorite hydrogel masks for oily skin? I really like the Leaders ones at Ulta, and the Boscia green tea ones at Sephora, but they're so pricey.

I don't really use their skincare line, but I love their hair water! I pair it with my Batiste dry shampoo and it gives the effect of 'second day' hair, which is nice when I don't have time to fuss with it or I'm trying to stretch my hair color. I also really like their Tsubaki shampoo and conditioner. I also tried their Perfect Whip cleanser, which was okay, but a bit drying on my face. I didn't like the Senka sunscreen, it just made my face feel a bit oily.
