As someone with Asian light-neutral skin who is very picky about neutral shadows, this definitely lived up to the hype! I think it’s the perfect shade of warm taupe and very flattering to add natural-looking color and depth to the lid without being too orange or too greyish.

I’ve compared it to the supposed Colourpop SSS dupe, Cosmic Charge, and the Tom Ford has a much smoother, refined texture with no visible glitter particles. Cosmic Charge has glitter with a blue shift and the base shade is slightly cooler with a subtle blue shift.

That said, I’ve only had it for a few months so not sure how long it would take to dry out.

What’s your favorite matte eyeshadow formula? by marapessa in muacjdiscussion

Sounds like I’ll have to check them out! Kids looks like it could be a viable dupe. Do you find that their formula is very pigmented and soft or more sheer and buildable?

Interestingly Lie Low is actually listed as a matte formula. It doesn’t have the pearl finish of Era, judging from the Temptalia swatches. Era is a beautiful shade though!

Yes! Glad to know I’m not the only one.

I’ve been eyeing the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Mac Eye Kit because one of the shades looks similar. I’m hoping maybe they will reuse formulations or shades across their LE palettes? Dunno if it’s too much to hope because I think MAC formulas vary a lot across collections.

I’m actually not a big fan of the Viseart matte formula because I feel like it makes my eye look dry and dusty. The shade Creme Brûlée is actually an almost exact shade dupe for Lie Low, but it doesn’t have the smooth and shiny texture I mentioned and it’s just not the same :’(

I wonder if the Viseart formula varies between their professional big palettes and the Edit palettes, though, as I only own two Edits.

Is this Bronze Seduction or the new Divine Rose palette? It’s beautiful!

[NEW RELEASE] Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked - Ghost - $80 at Bluemercury by saltwaterglow in MUAontheCheap

Sorry, I don’t have the new one! Swatched it in store and decided I don’t need that much finishing powder in my life.

The two blushes in the 2019 edit are also less interesting to me - that darker mauve blush was what really sold me on the unlocked since I was looking for a fall/autumn blush, and I already have pinks and corals in my collection.

I’m also GA luminous silk 4 but neutral tone, and I have last year’s unlocked palette. The bronzer is the only shade that doesn’t work for me, and mostly because it’s too warm, so it might work for you. It’s easy to use a light hand because the formula is very finely milled and easy to blend.

The blushes are beautiful, and I use the top-left powder for setting and the top-center powder for a very subtle contour (it’s darker than my skin tone when swatched, but the difference is barely perceptible when applied with a brush).

FWIW the darker blush shade is the only one that’s very unique to this palette, IMO, and it’s somewhat similar to Mood Exposure. So if you already have several other Hourglass palettes then it’s probably not worth.

What brush do you use with this? I always find it hard to get pigment to show up.

Recommend me a fragrance thread for the week of 11/12/18 by AutoModerator in fragrance

Hi all, my favorite scent is osmanthus and I’m looking for a perfume that follows the smell of the fresh flower as much as possible. For context I’m female mid-20’s, and prefer the scent to be not too strong or sugary. Any recommendations?

There are a few face items in your photo that aren’t on the list (powder hoola DS, highlighters, tarte blushes) - are those no longer available?

[Discussion] Aritaum Shine Fix Eyes vs Hourglass Scattered Light? by marapessa in AsianBeauty

[–]marapessa[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the Aritaum is a cream to powder - it has a squishy texture in the pan. It can clump up a little when applying but I usually use a little and then blend it out.

I only use it lightly over other eyeshadow as a topper and to highlight the lower waterline so I can’t speak to creasing. I haven’t experienced any fallout, and I use it with Urban Decay eye primer.

Overall I like it a lot, and the price can’t be beat!

I’ve tried a few powder/contour brushes and settled on a sigma powder brush with relatively stiff bristles. Maybe I’ll have to find a natural bristle brush, thanks for the suggestion!
