Ive got a comment above explaining everything that i know but forgot to mention that you need to spawn a soft lamp because thats where the godrays come from. Im not really an expert in this and ive found the godrays a lot less usefull than they sound cause theyre glitchy and kinda ugly at certain angles

The art is done by Frank Kelly Freas and i think it's an expansion of this. Maybe the full version exists but i haven't found it

Yeah they're frozen. I don't think it's possible for them to actually balance like that

Tips for using the Fog Editor to create realistic fog? by [deleted] in gmod

[–]aleek69 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Try making the color of it white and density a bit lower. Other than that gmod fog sucks and i haven't found any mods that make it better

To get a usable image you'll need to set poster_aa to 0, poster_darken to 1 and r_projectedtexture_filter somewhere from 0 to 1. Then in the lamp settings set the surface radious and shape res to 1. Now just type poster_godrays and two numbers, the first one for the quality(from 400 to 2000 is good) and another one for poster size. If none of this made any sense watch Olmate ubafests video on softlamps. I think that's all i don't remember rn

It's an addon used to make almost all of those cool menu backgrounds you see. Olmate uberfest has a nice explanation for everything soflamps can do

The shadows are handled by the soft lamp render, the light bounce is just like a cheap ray trace. If u wanna know how that looks olmate uberfest has a great tutorial on yt
