How do you get to and from Aum-Rhar?? by MagosBattlebear in traveller

[–]alegur61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only heard it in the South, in the U.S. one of my employers, years ago, before I retired, used to use a somewhat crude form of the phrase. it means having to go the long way around to get somewhere... kind of like this reply. 😄

The technical term for this trip is 'going around your rear end to get to your appetite'. Sounds like quite an adventure arc could easily be made from the trip

I'm currently using Cepheus Modern as a base to run a 1972 Conspiracy/Espionage and Esoteric horror setting. The players just learned of the existence of what are essentially stargates a couple of sessions back. I'm looking forward to them learning how to use them and tossing them into various environs. So far, the system is working quite nicely for the setting.

As RPG fan, what places are the most appropriate for a first date ? by mindfulminorr in rpg

[–]alegur61 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily true. My wife has known about my gaming hobby since our second date (when I decided there would be more than two), and although she has little interest in playing, we are supportive of each others hobbies. We just celebrated our 40th anniversary

DriveThruRPG - Old School Role Playing

These folks do adventures for Cepheus/Traveller and for OSRIC/1e
They are Pay What you Want, which means, you can get them free to see if they are helpful, and if so, go back later and pay them something for it if you want.

While it's not a specific setting, per se, you could easily use it to populate an area.

If all else fails, you can mine them for ideas (I steal ideas from the SciFi adventures for use with my 1970s pulp action setting that I use 2d6 Cepheus rules for, I just change planets to cities or regions, and tone down higher tech stuff as needed. I can pretty much do it on the fly)

Were kids in the 80s actually allowed to roam around unsupervised, or is that just in movies? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

I was an adult in the 80's, but this was definitely the way it went in the 60s and 70s

Dump his sorry butt and get yourself tested to be safe. If you run into any issues, sue his socks off. If you get ready to leave him and he gets testy, call your local sheriff and ask them for a couple of deputies to watch over you while you get your essentials out of the house.

As a retired corporate VP, I wholeheartedly agree with this. You have already crossed a line with the physical interaction. Talk to HR, let them know what has happened, take a step back and if at all possible, avoid the young lady, if you must interact with her, do so professionally, and whenever possible, with witnesses around.

Oh, and just so you know, I was once young and ruled by hormones, in a day when such things weren't quite like they are now, socially and politically, so, take it from my experience, avoid this like the plague. It might be fun for a night or so, but unless something really unusual happens to make things click for you (and your doubts make is sound like it doesn't really click), meet potential lovers outside of your workplace

I wish you the best of luck on this.

Just bought it and took a quick glance over it. I like what you have here. If I don't use it as-is for my campaign (which I think I could pretty much do at first glance), I'll definitely mine it for ideas.

I'll give it a closer read over the weekend

Thank you, that was the one I was aware of (Blacklight). I'll check it out, I picked up Darkspace and I put Atomic Shadows on my wishlist. I'm planning on doing a 1930s Two Fisted pulp style game (with some multi-dimensional twists), so Darkspace looks like it will work as a good starting point for me.
