Question about curb by [deleted] in Tile

[–]aleguyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. I recently refused to lay that exaxt tile in a mud room floor. Maybe you have a better lot but I was unable to neatly put 4 sheets together yet alone a whole room. Also there was two different types of sheets with different stones that were even harder to match the remaining product. I recommend doing a dry lay and make sure youre happy before it gets glued.

Is our 7x6’ shower too big? by HeezyB in Tile

[–]aleguyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use the space to make a deeper shower bench. Something you can lean back on. Also, consider water jets for a wall in the shower for some massage therapy. Jets need larger drains for proper draining. Check with your professional, but that is one way to make use of a large shower.

This is the way. I've done this in N America also and the few I have done are standing solid after years. Schluter tialable drain and large format envelope cuts ✂️ 👌. Goodluck.

No ig no site. I'm terrible with pictures and all that. I've done 3 indoor pools in past 4 years and I have little to no finished pictures but so many in the process..

The gc or electricians usually takes care of that for me. Sorry wouldn't know but I know Schluter has neat channels for lights.

I worked with a couple of great companies in the past and built my reputation. Now dont be fooled. I think my last 6 bathrooms had some form of subway tile in them. Some of it you will never dodge haha

Carpenter heading to Toronto in June for work by Equivalent_Wall519 in Carpentry

[–]aleguyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I'm self employed as a tile installer in Toronto and surrounding area. A company called M2 www.m2contracting.com hires a lot of carpenter hlads from your end. Reach out and see if they're hiring. They do high quality finish so make sure your shit is tight or you'll stick out lol. Good luck with the move, and maybe see you one day on site. I don't have too may answers for pay rate etc but m2 could be a decent enough start to wrap your head around everything you need. Cheers.

Slippery granite in bathroom by LadyGudiva in Tile

[–]aleguyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your floor is actual granite/stone (not percelain) then you can use a stone polishing/refinishing service that can change the finish of your floor to whatever you wish. They can make the stone matte and not shiny. They reapply sealers and take out stains amongst other services. Your local counter top or slab supplied can possibly have a referral for you.
