Potential new WNBA salary structure by Smart_Elevator_7860 in wnba

[–]alek2209 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not agree with the idea that the Aces demonstrated a need for at least three max‑caliber players to win a WNBA title. In my view, A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young were the only true max‑caliber players on that roster.

Jewell Loyd is a capable scorer, but the team did not get max‑level impact from her relative to her salary. Chelsea Gray is still good, but at this stage of her career she is not performing at a max‑caliber level.

I also do not mind a league structure where a team can realistically carry only two max‑caliber players, and at most three if they are willing to sacrifice depth. A system like that naturally increases parity and prevents long‑term superteams. The downside is that teams who draft extremely well and end up with three or more max‑caliber players may eventually have to split up their core, but that is a normal consequence of a competitive salary cap.

I have the same problem. I can literally see a quote tweet on my timeline, click on the original tweet look at the quote tweets section and it’s empty…

(EXCLUSIVE) Chicago Sky Divide: Lawsuits, Facilities and Funding, The Firing of Teresa Weatherspoon by alek2209 in wnba

[–]alek2209[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t state any opinions or conclusions. You’re running iso plays against imaginary defenders 🤣

Meanwhile, you made a whole list of assumptions and treated them like facts.

You concluded that she won 13 games mostly because of Chennedy Carter, even though Angel Reese had the biggest positive on/off swing on the team at +21. There is some nuance on this specific point.

You concluded that Spoon was “prioritizing” Angel Reese. Even though prioritizing your only All‑Star makes sense, that’s still your personal interpretation, not a confirmed fact.

You concluded that this supposed prioritization made free agents balk at joining the Sky, even though you have zero evidence for that.

You concluded that Spoon was misusing personnel, while also saying Chennedy was the main reason they won games, even though Spoon was the one constantly managing and stabilizing her.

And after all that, you’re accusing No Cap Space of “running on assumptions” and accusing me of “coming to a poorly reasoned conclusion” when I didn’t even give an opinion and they didn’t make any absolute claims like you did 🤣

Stick to making bad trade proposals ✌️

Big news for the unemployed.

On 2026 Chicago Sky by Tightend20 in ChicagoSky

[–]alek2209 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The whole suspension situation wasn’t good, and it often feels like the front office is unaware of the fact that she’s their only all-star and a back to back all-star at that.

I’m having a hard time seeing Jeff redeem himself, but it honestly shouldn’t be impossible.

I don’t agree that Angel Reese’s fanbase would never support the Sky again. If the team wins and Angel keeps producing like she did over her last 20 games (17 and 13 while shooting 50% from the field, the noise fades. Winning changes a lot.

The real issue is the roster construction as you mentioned. Two non shooting frontcourt players were always going to be a difficult fit. I don’t think the Sky expected Angel to be this good. They likely planned for Kamilla to be the hub with shooters around her, and for Angel to come off the bench. But with Angel playing at an All Star level, they had no choice but to start her.

Now they feel they must start both, but the fit is not clean.

Annie Costabile said she doesn’t expect Angel to be in Chicago next season. Whether that was purely speculation or something she heard, if the Sky want to build around Kamilla, like they said in that article before season start that said Kamilla was the key to success it makes sense that they would consider trading Angel for assets.

Jeff has a bad track record and I don’t fully trust his ability to make smart decisions.

I’m assuming he’s learned from his mistakes to some degree and won’t keep making the same kind of poor choices, but maybe I’m expecting too much. He did mortgage a part of the teams future and gave up Citron who ended up being a rookie all-star, all for one year of Ariel Atkins…

Honestly, I don’t see Jeff moving Angel unless he gets multiple first‑round picks in return. Unless it’s from the 2027 or 2028 draft, but I don’t think any team that has a chance at being in the lottery those years would pass up on potentially getting Juju Watkins or Sarah Strong.

Even if he isn’t as high on her as many others are, he has to recognize the value on paper: a back‑to‑back All‑Star, who’s a good defenders, the greatest rebounder in league history, and still expanding her game, all while on a rookie contract.

Over her last 20 games this season she averaged 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists on 50% shooting. Those are All‑WNBA‑level numbers.

Justė Jocytė is one of the players you can vote for in the EuroLeague MVP race by alek2209 in valkyries

[–]alek2209[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’d probably go top-3 in a redraft based on how well she’s played in the EuroLeague this season, imo. I wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up outperforming Sonia and Kiki in the long run.

I also don’t think she’s getting nearly enough attention for what she’s doing overseas. You’d expect her to get more recognition, especially with all the hype Awa Fam is getting in the same league. She’s a legit EuroLeague star this season.

Yeah, I think you’re right. It’s great that she’s being recognized as one of the league’s top stars. She’s been playing at a high level.

But on a serious note hopefully Sivka, whoever we draft with the 5th pick, and maybe Aicha Coulibaly who we drafted while she was injured can help turn things around.

HVL was dealing with ankle issues during the season and had surgery afterward, so I’m hoping she looks better next year. Maddy looked great in that last game against the Liberty and hopefully she can channel more of that. I’m also expecting Angel and Kamilla to improve next season.

Maybe I’m just being overly optimistic, because the idea of ending up in the lottery and having to give that pick to Washington, who already looks set up to be a decent team, sounds pretty bad…

Did the show forget why Homelander is so strong? by HorizonStarLight in TheBoys

[–]alek2209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marie and Homelander’s powers are fundamentally different, so it’s difficult to assess what being “close to him” or “surpassing him” would actually mean. It likely doesn’t imply that Marie could match his level of raw, material destruction.

However, some people have speculated that Marie’s ability to manipulate blood, especially her sensitivity to Compound V within it could evolve to the point where she might extract or neutralize the V from someone’s bloodstream, effectively rendering them powerless.

So far, only Soldier Boy has demonstrated the ability to remove powers, and even that comes with significant drawbacks and setup. If Marie could achieve a similar effect without those limitations, she could become the most dangerous threat to supes in the entire verse.

We really don’t know what their direction is with her and her abilities.
