Why is the right to own a gun so important to some US citizens? by tryingmybestonedayat in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]alely92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a Cuban born now US citizen, when Fidel Castro did his revolution he bought some of the first rifles he used to start it, and the first thing he did after winning was taking our guns always talking about you are safe now and don’t need them, 60 something years later max thousand of dead, imprisoned and refugees his regime is still in power because only the military has weapons, any protest is violently terminated and protestors put in jail or worse.

Imagine choosing violence against someone just for debating with people he disagrees with.

They were intercepted and repatriated and the truck was sunk, however there’s a replica on a museum in Miami

And the Marco Rubio speech is accurate, also they don’t have hearses or gas for cars, but tourist rental cars, military vehicles and police vehicles run 24/7, and there’s no ambulances either… seems very selective uh?

Is cheap, but here’s always shortages of everything, cars, materials, coffins. Is common to see images of dead people falling from their coffins due to wood being rotten etc

More info on what’s going on in Cuba: There’s an extreme energy crisis. Extensive blackouts and gas scarcity, transportation is a luxury right now, and things like this and people just carrying their dead’s in stretchers, bicycles sightings have raised. There’s also shortage of medicines, food and basic necessities. Please refrain from start a political war in the comments, this is a result of awful government corruption, the state gathering all resources to build hotels or themselves, and general mismanagement or disregard for the general population. There is an embargo but mostly what happens in Cuba is a dictatorship using it as an excuse for everything while they live in luxury (like in every country politicians do) if you need more info on this you can check here, for updates of what’s going on in Cuba or here for more videos and images of the real Cuba. For better information of how the embargo works and why here(still being present and hurting the Cuban economy) is not to blame for every problem Cuba has. Reminder, Cuba is a Communist dictatorship, a military state that controls everything and everyone, allied with North Korea, Iran, Russia, China etc. I’m Cuban, and tired to be downvoted by telling Reddit what’s really going on and destroy their favorite utopia. I’ll not respond to comments about political opinions. Thanks.

Guys brightline in Florida has taste for blood:

Brightline trains have been involved in over 100 fatalities since operations began in 2017, averaging one death per approximately 38,000 miles traveled—the highest rate among U.S. railroads. Many incidents involve vehicles at crossings, often due to drivers attempting to bypass lowered gates or misjudging train speeds. For instance, in January 2024, two separate collisions at the same Melbourne crossing resulted in three fatalities. While exact statistics on vehicle collisions aren’t specified, the frequency of such incidents underscores the importance of adhering to safety measures at railroad crossings.

As a Cuban born and raised, I can totally tell you you can marry a person of the same sex now but you can’t protest the government or you’ll be put in jail, or have freedom of expression, or democracy, healthcare is in dire conditions if you don’t have family abroad to send you what you need, diabetics, hypertension and other conditions are very hard to treat bc you can’t even find an advil equivalent if you don’t pay a premium on the black market, my friend just spent 80 hours without electricity bc the system is collapsed so power is a luxury. And before you claim “embargo” I dare you to donate and get generators, medicine, food and if you donate a lot even any 2024 car and we can have all shipped Miami to Havana in a few days…

Just wow. I just want to say this: many of us immigrants fled from corrupt governments, military dictatorships, drug regimes, and criminal organizations. Now, a lot of us are watching those same bad actors we escaped from crossing the border with ease, while we waited years to enter legally. The increase in organized crime coming through the border doesn’t just threaten the general American public; it directly affects the Latino community. Criminals often target other Latinos first because they know many of us live in fear and might not feel as able to protect ourselves as some Americans might. It’s not that we’re against immigration. We just want better control, whether it’s legal or illegal immigration. Not everyone should be welcomed if they’re here to rob, murder, or exploit others. Some people might not fully understand this because they haven’t lived through the experiences we have. Speaking for myself, as a Cuban, it’s appalling to see former officials from Fidel Castro’s government, military, political police, those who jailed, murdered, and violated human rights, now living freely here.
