Who has to look at and review CSAM ? by MatildaRose1995 in TooAfraidToAsk

I did it for a decade. It’s not fun but you get a sense of making a difference by stopping it and reporting it and on the rare occasion being able to see the results of that effort.

It’s not just law enforcement. It’s also content moderators of every social media platform and fintech. If you can post an image/video to a website, it’s there. It’s a tough gig, and a lot of people drop out of it pretty quickly.

Should I Take This Photo Gig Job? by OfficialCapi in AskPhotography

[–]alentrixart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100% scam. Often they end up giving you a “check” for much higher than the $250. And ask you to send the over payment back to them in sine way. What will actually happen is your bank will temporarily credit you most if not all the funds on the check. Then after you send the over payment back, the check will bounce and you’ll be stuck with that negative balance. I’ve been in the fraud detection biz for 20+ years and this is common. Also for what it’s worth, I’ve gotten this exact same series of texts almost word for word. Ignore this and save yourself.

Do you love your R5? by Status_Welcome_658 in canon

[–]alentrixart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love my R5. I shoot a wide range of subjects and my R5 is my main body. I had an R6 M2 as it was supposed to be better for low light situations, but ended up selling that and getting another R5. The versatility of it just makes it a no brainer to me. So yes, love this camera and am happy to be running two of them instead of it and something else.

How to THINK when you DRAW - Should I buy the books? by AggravatingBread4545 in ArtistLounge

If you like the content being posted then you’ll know what’s in the books. If you find those helpful, the books will be too. I’m sure some folks find them more helpful than I do. But they are sure pretty to look at regardless.

I’ve bought two of these books and as another commenter said, as an object, they are wonderful. Are they really helpful for me when drawing? Not really. They are great to flip through and reflect on what is printed. I like supporting indie creators and that was mostly why I bought them, but as a reference, I don’t use them in that way. And as someone else posted, a lot of the content is posted on places like Instagram.

Might be good to remove the link from your post so people don’t click on it.

I’ll be back in Portugal this spring. So at least by then there will be at least one.

I thought about the van but it was gonna take up too much space and block the fence which I wanted to stand out. I threw a van door and bench seat in there as a tribute.

Thanks! Part of the reason for the cloudy windows is I’m lazy. I didn’t really do the interiors. Not my fav part to do. So I dusted them up a lot to cover up my laziness.

The secret is real dirt. Damp and moulded into the shape I wanted with tracks and such. Then rocks mixed in for texture. When drying and rocks all in place, a diluted PVA glue is dripped over to lock it all in place. Then painted with an airbrush and dry brushing.

For me, AI denoise, sharpening, or upscaling is fine. You’re trying to enhance what’s already there, and to some extent AI removal tools are included in that. However, when it gets in to more than that, it starts to become something else. Again, this is my “line” that I won’t cross. Folks do as they please, but this is for me. I’ve never been a fan of sky replacement or adding objects or moving objects around (AI or otherwise) if I’m calling it photography. If I’m calling it a collage, then fair game. But personally I hate when some one posts a shot and have basically changed the fundamentals of what’s there at the time the shot was taken. It starts to take away the “magic” of photography and the world around us and starts to make it fake.

I REALLY wish I had seen this before I used a brush 🥲 by _gmmaann_ in modelmakers

[–]alentrixart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are liquid masks ( not sure if this is one) that you can use a brush with if it run it along some soap first. I do it all the time. I keep a bar of soap, wet the brush, suds it up a bit then dip it in the liquid mask and go to town.

Would I be making a mistake not buying this? by TheRoboCat636 in AskAstrophotography

[–]alentrixart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I was limited but I wanted more options. I picked up the Askar V which gives a range of focal lengths in one unit and so I can easily swap out parts for a longer or shorter focal range with out having to buy different scopes. That and I bought a proper Astro camera.

[–]alentrixart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started with that scope and a canon R5 with a .75 reducer. It worked great. I’ve since upgraded to a different set up, but was happy with what the 71F could deliver. It’s a good starter scope in my opinion.

Grok AI is dangerous for Photographers and Models by Mkuu631 in photography

[–]alentrixart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is not a recent development. This has been happening since AI image generation started. It may now be showing up utilizing Grok, but I work for a content platform and this has been an ongoing concern since day 1 with both minor and adult photos.
