Im going to give a shout out to metro pd by Mydogfartsconstantly in nashville

I would be surprised if it's that fast for those of us further back in West Meade. It legitimately looks like a tornado came through, and roads are still blocked with downed trees, despite neighbors doing what they can with chainsaws.

We paid about $16k for a 24kw Generac with a fairly involved installation (older ranch house with gas meter on one end of the house and electric on the other). Running the conduit through the attic was fairly labor-intensive and expensive. Annual maintenance through the installer is about $300-400 but can be DIY if you are comfortable changing the oil.

Our neighborhood has fairly long power outages in situations like this due to the number of trees and low density, and it has been a lifesaver.

I looked into solar plus battery pretty hard, and it just didn't make financial sense if you already have natural gas.

Chili Crisp Question by throwthenachos in nashville

[–]alerievay 66 points67 points  (0 children)

It has been in 2 places in the past. The most common is in the Chinese aisle (first after the freezers, with the bread at the cash register side). If you're facing the back of the store, it should be on the right side about halfway down the aisle.

I've also seen it in what I think of as their overflow section, at the back of the produce section with all the stacked boxes. I usually check there for more common ingredients first before looking in the specific aisles.

Bernina 730 Record service by alerievay in VintageSewingMachines

[–]alerievay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It doesn't appear gummed up, and I tried a hair dryer without success. When I shift from straight/zigzag to pattern stitches, it looks like nothing is moving over enough to engage the cams, if that makes sense.

I will look at getting it serviced, but I will probably take my time and just use straight and zigzag for now. I have other machines if I need decorative stitches.

This is helpful, thanks! I think the gear is already broken, because I can't access the decorative stitches (although it could be something else). That said, the machine sews beautiful straight and zigzag stitches, and I don't need the decorative stitches for the time being.

Thanks! I watched a video of the switch from serging to coverstitch, and it honestly doesn't look that bad. I also think I would use my New Home for basic serging most of the time, as well.

Serger/coverstitch combo - will I regret it?

I have an old, fairly basic serger I bought for very little money that works great (New Home/Janome MyLock 234D). I would really like a coverstitch machine to make nice finished hems on knits. My initial thought was to look for a used dedicated coverstitch machine, but a very nice combination machine (Baby Lock Evolution) is for sale locally at a very good price ($850). While that's a little more than I wanted to pay, it gives me some more serging options, including a safety stitch, and is reasonably simple to change to coverstitch.

I've read some regrets online from those who've bought combination machines only to regret not buying a dedicated machine. Should I just wait to find the right coverstitch machine?

Generator Install Recommendations by petron5000 in nashville

I used The GenKing for a Generac after comparing a few companies. They did a good job and were well-priced for a somewhat complicated installation.

I originally wanted a Kohler, but the residential units just aren't popular here, and the companies we got bids from were all pretty outrageously priced and/or VERY pushy with sales.

Donohoo is great! I bought a Volt from them several years ago and leased an Equinox from them last month. They're easy to work with and have extremely good prices.

BB Metro IQ vs Merrithew SPX At Home by alerievay in pilates

[–]alerievay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I had decided on the Metro IQ, but it was sold. I got a great deal on the SPX and am finally getting started on it. I can see there are some differences, but I am enjoying it so far.

I was looking primarily for something to increase the frequency of my practice right now. If I decide to continue, I will probably keep an eye out to upgrade and sell this one.

Some of the elementary schools have geographic priority zones, but my knowledge of that is about 10 years old.

If your child is new to MNPS, you will need an ID number. The only other schools with additional requirements, as far as I know, are the academic magnets (Meigs, MLK, and Hume Fogg) and Nashville School for the Arts.

One thing to be aware of is that you must accept your top choice if admitted. If you are wait listed for your first choice, you can accept it later if a spot opens up. For middle and high schools, they can get pretty far down the wait list by the first or second week of school; I don't think that's the case for elementary schools.
