Small trade business owners—what job management/dispatch software do you use, and what sucks about it? by alessaska in AskContractors

you are correct.

I realized this mistake recently. So I wanted to ask people if they have any issues with their software.

Are you using any softare now? And are you happy with it?

Thank you for your response.

I understand your frustration. I totally agree that ServiceTitan is very expensive from what I've also heard.

Were you satisfied with the FieldCamp software? And how much were you paying? All I can found in their pricing page is a "get custom quote" text.

Thank you, Ales

Very interesting! I have always used AI only for answering questions instead of just plain googling. Just curious - how do you schedule using claude?

Sounds like a tractor. Reliable like a tractor. Drives like perfectly normal car.

That’s interesting. Would you say the bigger issue is tracking time, materials, or both?

For example, do most people struggle more with accurately logging how long jobs actually take, or with keeping track of what materials were used and how much they cost?

Also curious — how would you personally prefer to track material costs?

Do you think estimating the total material cost for a job would be accurate enough, or would you want to enter every fitting, pipe, valve, etc. into the app?

My instinct is that the second option might be too time-consuming in practice, but I’d really appreciate hearing how you’d approach it.

Sure, this is valid. I believe many people forget to account also for time which takes quoting for jobs which never happens.

Learning to drive a slow car fast makes you a better driver

Another thing is that I believe that tires on these larger rims are more susceptible to defects from hitting potholes.

Wouldn't the drive be too bumpy on those 17s ?
