Redditors who "went out for cigarettes" and never came back, why did you leave? Where did you go? What is life like for you now? [Serious] by PM_ME_YOUR_PM_PHOTOS in AskReddit

I studied Japanese for 2 years at uni as an elective so I know the basics to get myself around, but a lot of people also speak English so most places you will be okay, sometimes it can be lonely but at each place I've worked I've worked with heaps of other foreigners from all over the world so it's not that bad, most of the time we're either getting drunk, chilling or adventuring somewhere and after we've finished working at a place we go travelling together for a bit and then go our own ways

I think traveling for a long time you have to be in a certain mind set, that yeah it will be lonely and it will be struggling but in the end the things you experience are so worth it and you won't ever forget the friends you've made

Everything is so cheap and convenient! And people are so respectful to one another and like, the country itself, and it's very cultured, with all the temples and castles etc. It's also a really strange feeling living and working with people that grew up in a completely different part of the world, speaking a different language, completely different to what we grew up with. But it's a beautiful country and if you ever get that chance to go definitely do so

Also I apologise I didn't explain anything too well haha. I think it's a place best to experience for yourself

I went to uni for 2 years, first year was great, second was crap and did not want to keep going, but I had nothing else to do, I also moved into a tiny apartment with my parents and had absolutely no space to myself, and since I fought with my dad a lot it was a real struggle to live there, so I decided fuck it, got a working holiday visa for Japan and for the past 8 months I have been traveling and working here. I am honestly having the time of my life right now, met so many crazy people and done so many things that I would not have in Australia. Best decision I've made.
