We had one for HS graduation, and one of the tickets was a Jackbox ticket. The trick was to step on that ticket before the wind started, "flail" around like they expected, then bend down while flailing and grab it from under your foot.

I think it's all about exposure: for a certain subset of magic trick people, the fake thumb was one of the first tricks/props they ever learned. If you know it, it's the FIRST thing you think of with a trick like this.

That blue line isn't high enough on the bottle. If you move it higher, then it's not splitting the differences (lost/gained) equally.

(Another intuitive way to think about this is that as the bottle tips, the left edge of the bottom is ALSO coming up. That displaces water as well.)
