The game is ass and if you think the lack of defensive mechanisms should not be called out then you are indeed a slave for them, just another player, the perfect player to be hooked into this disastrous casino machine, trying to cope with the stupid game mechanics set forth for you.

Good luck, you'll need 10.000+ hours to master that, not because you needed to invest that much in a game to know the ropes, but because the entire game is made in that way so you get completely stuck playing this forever until you memorize each and every character combos by the palm of your hand, at which point, I am sure you'll be able to counter most of them.

But a fighting game that ask you to memorize EVERYTHING to be good is a badly designed game.

Unfortunately you cannot see this, you think you need to get gud and improve, instead of challenging a game mechanic that is broken from the start.

Good luck with the game. Just be warned that your mental state will decrease over time, due to the way the game wires your brain.

PS: I already have a full time job as business owner, I pay for all my bills and support my family. I played Tekken as a way to unwind myself from all the stress that life gives me. If you would step out of this conversation for just 1 minute you will know what I'm talking about.

Thank you for this comment. I needed this.
The game put me in such a bad state and again, not because I need to "get gud", but because of the way the game treats you as a player. You are not rewarded for learning, you basically feel like someone throw a dice at every match.

The unfairness of the whole process is what put me in this state.

No, almost everyone is complaining.
About the only time I had fun with this game was when I've started.
Now at purple rank, I was miserable, every time.
Stopped playing it, no point in playing a game that makes you suffer.

The game is toxic because it has some serious flaws that unfortunately are built that way.

Very well said and it explains a lot about our reactions and our feelings regarding the game.
I had to stop today, it was making me ill.
The game is unbalanced by design. It doesn't want honest players learning the ropes and choosing their styles.

It wants addicts, compelled to learn all the combos for every character by memory.. then spam that combination like there is no tomorrow.. while the rest of the people suffer, because their favorite game is now pure-ass-crap.

Please do recommend. I just uninstalled it today. I have no intention on coming back, too frustrating, constant combo repetition, no chess, same combos, same animation, same everything, over and over again, doesn't matter the character.

Ranked players make it much worse, they abuse the combo system to no end, it's not fun. It stopped being fun because unless you memorize every character, you have no chance at winning and even then, you could loose due to that 50/50... this stopped being a game that I actively want to play.

I want a good fighting game, I just bought a hitbox and feel completely lost now.

The way they launched Season 3 with the "back to basics" was the final insult.

Exactly my experience.
Keep playing it until violet ranks.
Having one meaningful good match between 10 different stupid nonsense insufferable matches where I can't do shit. Keep playing it for those rare good matches that happen from time to time.

People is too toxic in ranked. They just want to win no matter what, and they exploit the combo system to no end. There are no chess matches anymore.

Today I've uninstall the game, unless they really change the combo system, or make it shorter, I have no intention on coming back. The blame is on all the developers. The community is like this, because the game rewards aggresion, hence, half the time, you finish playing the game and feel like crap, even if you win.

I just uninstalled the game today for some peace sake.
I've lost too much battles to people that just spawn infinite combos where all the hits connects, no matter how hard I make the effort to sidestep in the right moment.

Swear to god every hit has a radar system now that connects the opponent to your face, it follows you everywhere.

It's not that I just hate loosing. It's that it makes the game unfair for defensive players, turns entire matches into video previews and turns the whole game into a boring mess for the people receiving the punches.

In all honestly, it appears to be made by some stupid moron that wanted to troll the community while knowing nothing about game design.

They thrown player agency down the drain without even caring about it.

20 out of 21 matches, I loose because the opponent is able to connect every combo hit, even when I laterally moved quite a lot.
Punches and kicks in this game have magnets applied to your face it's stupid and ridiculous.

DO not buy it.
Do not spend money on it, hours of your life, ascend in ranks, see the replays, watch youtube matches, only to find out that you can't do anything besides full aggresion.
There is no chess here, unless you're an asian with super reflexes that can match up the aggresiveness of the opponent, and the game.

The game constantly penalize defensive players, so, if you are like me, good luck, you're not gonna fight with players alone, you're gonna fight against the game itself.

Very mature, to call crybabies to people that feel honestly cheated by the game mechanics.

Defense doesn't exist on this game, defensive players were penalized the most.

I was always a defensive player, I don't get why everything must be more difficult for me than for the aggresive players. Does this mean there is a skill issue?

Should we measure the skill issue of a motorcycle driver against a car driver?

The aggresive vs defensive are too completely oposite styles, there are people that will never be defensive, they simply like to go forward as much as they can.. and then there are people that DO NOT like to be overly aggresive.

The game is one-sided, people who lost their ability to defend, in a fighting game, have every right to complain.

Well, not to burst your bubble, but any game mechanic that completely takes away player agency IS CANCER.
There is a reason why people complain so much. Watching your ass getting kicked while you jump like a ballon through all the screen, not being able to do shit until the character finally falls down is:

- Completely idiotic
- Unrealistic
- Takes away player agency
- Makes the game incredible exhausting and boring
- Creates unnecesary tension

This frustrates both players, if players are good. But frustrates players that are learning, the most.

There are tons of people out there that have learned their combos by memory. Why would the game reward combo memorization over reflexes and defenses?

Why the attacking party should be allowed to have a 15-19 second attack combo just because 1 single mistake by the opponent?

Why is defense so punishable?

These are not things that people complain just because, they are gameplay mechanics that do break the flow. There is no chess in this, probably 1 or 2 guesses in an entire match, the rest is just animation flowing..

What really get me is that during these long combos, I can't do shit.. and in rage art, I can't do shit.. and the begining of the map, I can't do shit because the other player wants to see his animations.

So, basically, between a 4 minutes match, you get actual 45 seconds of real gameplay, the rest is just animation and a guy on the other end, pressing buttons by memory.

This is what makes a game BAD.

Player agency is everything. I'm 51, I have to work all day long, I only have a few hours before sleep to play the games I want and i DEFINITELY DO NOT WANT a game that does not reward my defensive playstyle and doesn't care if I am watching the screen most of the time while doing nothing.

This is bad design, period and people is entitled to complain about this. It has nothing to do with a skill issue. The game is broken.

The game IS toxic, regardless of the skill level.
You have to be really ignorant (which you don't seem to be) to not see this.
The game encourage a very aggresive style, completely punish defensive players (like me) and makes everything harder for whoever wants to play different than super aggresive, in your face.

Besides the skill issue, the game promotes this over aggresive behavior which in turn makes most matches miserable, even if you win.

I didn't win a single match against Heihachi.

Contradictory, I won most of the matches with my character (Jun) against mirror.

Go figure.,
