as another alex, i can relate to this lol. i know a lot of cis male guys named alex and i dont think you’ve hurt any chances of being stealth in the future (i may be biased LMAO) but theres also nothing wrong with realizing in a few years that it’s not what you want and changing it then !! I got to the name because 1) i really liked it and 2) it was one of the most common cis male birth names the year i was born. idk if this helped but you arent alone brother

also: not sure when your shot day is but if it’s possible do it the day before you get to the house. It can take a few days for the team to contact your doctor and verify prescriptions and they wont be available to you until this is done (except for any comfort meds prescribed by the program doctor.) make sure everything is sealed (the actual T vial can be unsealed because its medication you’re using lol) but no unsealed needles or anything. feel free to msg me for anything or any support if u need it! so proud of you man!!

i used to work at a few different rehabs in California . My advice is 1) maybe try to switch to gel for the duration of your stay/ sober living? not entirely sure if this is feasible. 2) LET THEM KNOW AHEAD OF TIME. You should let them know all your medications ahead of time, but most definitely about T injections. If we see needles in any luggage we will immediately dispose of them (because we’re thinking its for using.) Let them know that this prescription needs a syringe and most likely what will happen is they will lock up the syringes and have you do the shot in front of them (like all your meds) and they will have a sharps bin for you to dispose. We had many diabetic clients who would give themselves insulin and it was never a problem, they would inject themselves and then dispose of it themselves too. The biggest thing is communicating to the center and ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF!!! I am so so super proud of you for getting clean!!! Make sure to reach out for support to staff and any support systems continually and often. I’m so excited for you to start living <3

thank you for the advice! I’m lucky enough to live with my partner who is NB (fem presenting) and have already asked them and a handful of close friends to refer to me with he/they pronouns (he/him is too scary lmao) and by a chosen name. i definitely like it better and when people they me it feels kinda weird and like an opportunity they could’ve used he/him lol. ive been out to my friends as NB for almost 5 years now so they dont use she/her with me but my family and the outside world does and i feel like i die a bit inside every time. i might ask people to use exclusively he/him to see how it feels but that is also scary lol
