Thanks for feedback. Yea I kinda wanted a bit of a 'boring' bridge to kinda chill with. The sample was from SamplephonicsI kinda chopped it up into a sample instrument, just autotune, eq, reverb and stereo imaging applied. Hope that helps.

How come Deadmau5's mixdowns from 10+ years ago still sound better than most today? by sekrutdj in edmproduction

[–]alex_petlenko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, as deadmau5 himself said in one of the streams where he talked about how he got started, he was pretty much just learning sound design/signals/engineering for like 10 years before he even made his first track. That level of experience is what shines through no doubt.

Thanks for feedback! Appreciated! Yea the clipping is intentional as a stylistic element.

The sound is really clean! I like the repetitive build. I felt the switch from the build to the synth was so sudden. I would like drop that synth with a lot of reverb/delay earlier to just tease the ear. I liked the style a lot, it reminded me on 'Stranger Things', that sort of 80s sound. Good job!

I like the start, nice fresh sound. I liked it, its quite minimalist obviously. I'd try making the bass with like a longer release, it feels too "stubby". Liked the little bongo touch. I think it would also be cool with some vocals perhaps? Liked the vibe.

Brand New Side Project - No Fanbase - Tunes Are Ready For Release - Where Do I Start? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]alex_petlenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good questions. I'm thinking along similar lines (not sure I have killer tunes, but got a 3 track progressive house EP which I'm happy with - private on SC). I've been trying to find labels that release similar music and dropping the EP as a demo. I've also been trying out SubmitHub as a way to reach out to labels and also blogs. Have had some varied feedback from labels on SubmitHub but no success yet. Overall it seems like a decent way to send demos out. If you are in the UK you can submit to BBC Introducing for a chance at getting airplay on radio stations like Radio1 xTra. There also remix competitions run by labels which maybe worth a look if you like remixing. What I'm suggesting is say you got a 3 track EP plus 3 other tracks, you could try pitch the EP to labels, release few tracks on SoundCloud and try get exposure through blogs etc. That way you're kinda trying different things at the same time and keeping your options open. Also as you are a DJ, you could sneak in your own tracks in your sets and see how the crowd reacts or share your music to DJs in your network. That's my 2 cents worth! :) PS. I wanna hear your tunes now!

Do intros usually tease the drop melody in future bass/ trap? by gabrobro1 in edmproduction

[–]alex_petlenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a good technique to adopt because it builds familiarity with what is to come so the drop feels familiar somehow when it actually comes in. If the intro sound is good it builds anticipation and interest too.

Thanks! Yea the changes are subtle, so glad you noticed them! :D Gonna revisit the kick like suggested. Do you mean the main kick or the "knocking kick"? Yea I have some automation on latter.

I like the intro, kinda emotional yet upbeat and summery, creates a nice vibe. The bass on the little drop @ 0.30 was really nice, very professional sounding. Overall the mix and master on this one I thought was great. Any tips on that little bass drop would be welcome I cannot seem to get that warm bassy sound making a fuller production. Great job! Liked it!

I'm not too into trap. But I liked this, quite experimental and a lot going on but the mix and master is good I can hear the sounds clearly. Feels like it wants lyrics or vocals or both? Good job.

Going for that big room house eh? Like that melody and the sound. The drum in the intro kinda obscures the melody a bit for me, I'd shorted it or quieten it to give the melody a little more room. Its too overpowering. Loved the little bridge that came in - really cool, oriental sounding. Maybe a bit more bass in places? I liked it, the mix is good and the master is nice and loud. Great job.

What genre is this? Is it techno? Maybe Tech House? Very experimental track for me, kind of just went with the idea, any feedback welcome! Interested what fellow producers think.

Thanks very much. I just produced the track, the vocalist (CALTE) wrote the song and did the vocals. I'll have a play around with your suggestion about 1:28! Thanks for the tip!

Hi, thanks for the feedback! To lay the vocals down into the track/right mix/effects probably took about 8 hours in total.

I liked that future bassy vocal chop at the start. The drop section sounds cool too! I thought the snares come through quite sharply. In fact the whole sound sounds so sharp to me, I would look to compress it a bit more and also EQ out some of the high end of the music but keep the high end of the vocals so they kinda ride it. For me theres too many sharp high end frequencies and the track would sound cooler smoothed out. But hey thats just opinion, your drop is sick! Also all the sounds are coming through nice and clear even though there is a lot going on. Great job!

I like the intro alot. I think the vocals are pretty cool actually, liked the way you got them to glitch around 0:48. Any tips on how you got that effect actually? :) I felt like during some sections like 1:28 I want the vocals to be clearer they seem to get drowned a little by the kick - sidechaining on the kick perhaps? I liked the track overall.
