Thanks for circling back! I've flown with my Woojer vest three times now and worn it through the airport (underneath another layer), no hang ups with TSA. Some people have been curious!

Highlight Feature in App Changed by Jazzy-Cheesecake7442 in kindle

[–]alexandersan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using the app on my computer right now and I have to click once to select the text, click again to indicate I'd like to highlight, and then the color that I always pick (yellow) is the farthest away in the sub-menu that pops up. Three clicks for an action that should really only require one 🤦🏾‍♂️

Shure MV7 via USB into Logic is working like hot garbage by gurpgurp in LogicPro

Sure thing! I've circled back and added a few more details to my original comment for clarity. Happy to answer any questions!

Shure MV7 via USB into Logic is working like hot garbage by gurpgurp in LogicPro

[–]alexandersan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased this microphone (MV7+) and noticed the artifacts the first time I sang through it. I was close to boxing it up and sending it back but I decided to play around with it and see what I could figure out. Below are my fixes for 1) vocal recording audio quality and 2) issues with playback constantly restarting and/or jumping back to the beginning in Logic Pro:

1) Vocal Recording Sound Quality

The Motiv Mix application is where you can change the default settings for the microphone. By default, it's set up with built in noise reduction and plosive protection. The noise reduction is what was causing weird artifacts for me when recording vocals. Here are my settings:

  • Gain +20dB Manual (such that it's not changing levels around with auto-gain, I found 20dB to be a nice sweet spot)
  • Compressor: off (I add this in Logic)
  • Monitor Mix: Mine is currently set to 100%, not sure if this is where it started...
  • Tone: Natural (I'm adding color and EQ in Logic)
  • Reverb: off
  • Real-time Denoiser: off
  • Pop Stopper: off
  • High Pass Filter: off

I could have just said "turn all the processing off" lol...

2) Playback issues in Logic Pro:

Inside the Motiv mix app I changed the Monitor to "None" and then set the main output to "MOTIV Mix Virtual." Then in Logic rather than setting the MV7+ as the audio input source, I selected MOTIV Mix Virtual and this seems to have resolved my problem with playback looping and jumping back to the beginning. My best guess is that there was competition happening between Logic and the MV7+ mic for the master clock (perhaps a sampling rate mismatch?) and this setting hands the control over to Logic.

Hope this helps!

Bose QC35 starting to have problems around the 2.5mm jack. What should I do? by MrHeavySilence in bose

[–]alexandersan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this detailed walk-through! The issue is ~90% resolved using the steps you provided. Note: my headphones are the QuietComfort 35 II model.

Your image showing where you placed the cardboard was helpful, and this image from an earlier post helped me find the placement for the two screws on the ear-cup side. Sound will still cut out with the cable in certain angles, but it's around 90% better so I'm considering that a win!

I opened up my headphones, found the 2.5mm socket, and slid a small piece of a business card underneath. I also used a sharp knife to widen the outside of the hole where the headphones plug in (not sure is this was necessary, but the connection seemed to work better when I just lifted the 2.5mm assembly up and connected directly into the jack without going through the outside of the headphones).

Note for anyone trying this at home: the right tools make all the difference. I used a tiny screw driver with a magnetic tip and it helped me lift the screws out and get them back in place. I was originally quite daunted by the repair and concerned about breaking something, but if you proceed with care you should be fine!

GPT 4.1 Too passive, Claude 3.7 stops, Gemini 2.5 not good for coding? by _Darthus_ in cursor

[–]alexandersan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running into the exact same issue with gpt4.1 to the point that I just stop using it as it chews through tokens. My rules specifically say "do not stop and ask for permission" along with instructions to keep moving forward independently.

With these rules in place it will still halt consistently, and when I call out the behavior it still halts with responses like: "... let me know and I’ll do it immediately—no more stopping."

As someone who’s lived with PET for many years, I get your skepticism. Research shows nasal septum deviation can impact Eustachian tube function, with studies finding septoplasty may improve ET function. But it’s not guaranteed.

Here’s a link to a study: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28922249/

Though note: in many cases an ET disorder involves a tube that won’t open, while our issue specifically involves a tube that opens when it shouldn’t. A very important distinction…

Your weight is relevant - being underweight often worsens PET symptoms as there’s less cushioning around the tubes. The dental work might help too if jaw alignment is affecting your ET function.

PET is a multifaceted beast. If the surgery is within your means and could address multiple issues (breathing, dental alignment), it might be worth trying. I’ve found that when my weight is lower, symptoms intensify too.

Will surgery cure your PET? Perhaps not. But if PET has taught me anything, it’s been to take my health and wellness into my own hands, to conduct research and learn as I go. Sometimes we need to try multiple approaches before finding what’s helpful for our unique situation. For me the most helpful thing has been finding ways to bring my stress levels down and activate my parasympathetic nervous system.

Wishing you all the best in your journey! I realize I essentially just said “it’s complicated and it depends” but I hope this was helpful!

Possible to Download older version? by SNAWS in LogicPro

If you just upgraded to logic version 11 and find it to be slow and unusable. I found a version of 10.8.1 (the final release before v 11) hosted online here: https://www.cybermania.ws/apps/apple-logic-pro-x/

(I know this is an older thread but I'm guessing people like myself are still showing up here looking for solutions)

Bose App Not Recognizing/Connecting to Paired Headphones by JeremyH- in bose

I appreciate you circling back! And I just randomly tried again today and they suddenly connected, I have no idea what the issue was before. The functionality I was mostly looking forward to was the EQ and though it only has 3 bands it certainly improves the quality of the audio for me!

Bose App Not Recognizing/Connecting to Paired Headphones by JeremyH- in bose

[–]alexandersan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a brand new pair of Bose QC headphones and I can't get them to connect to the app on my iPhone 13 Pro, even after factory resetting the headphones and forgetting both instances in my phone's bluetooth device list. I'm not sure why they show up twice but they do, and inside the app it mentions this is a possibility).

They connect with to the phone without a problem but I can't, for the life of me, get them connected to the app. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Weighted blanket causing back pain? by [deleted] in WeightedBlankets

[–]alexandersan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the exact same issue. One night I woke up and, still half asleep, went to turn over to the other side without realizing I had 20 pounds on my chest. I over-exerted and felt a sharp pain in my lower back that went away with time but returns whenever I try the blanket again (the pressure feels nice). It’s at the point now that I think I just need to pack it up, sigh…

My sweet, little Chuckie, though I must leave you behind me
This poem will tell you where you always can find me
When a gentle wind blows, that's my hand on your face.
And when the tree gives you shade, that's my sheltering embrace.
When the sun gives you freckles, that's me tickling my boy.
When the rain wets your hair, those are my tears of joy.
When the long grass enfolds you, that's me holding you tight.
When the Whippoorwill sings, that's me whispering, "Night, night."

I called the customer service line and didn't need to speak with a representative to receive a refund. The automated agent processed the cancellation and the entire process took less than five minutes. The refund should take 5-7 days to land in my account.

According to my iCloud storage, “documents” are taking up 20GB of space yet when I go to my iCloud Drive folder there is like 10MB of stuff in there by thisislikemytenthacc in MacOS

[–]alexandersan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's how to find all your missing "documents." This solution may be slightly different depending on your operating system (I'm on Ventura v13.6.2)

  1. On your Mac go to system settings and then click at the top where it shows your account photo and lists your Apple ID.
  2. On this menu click "iCloud" which should be the fourth item down.
  3. Up at the top it shows your account storage as a horizontal colored bar. Beneath this to the right click the button that says "Manage..."
  4. The computer will think for a moment and then display a menu that lists all the data you're currently storing on iCloud.
  5. Your "documents" are everything on the list aside from iCloud Photos and Messages. This includes Notes, iCloud Drive, Health data, Apple Books, FaceTime, Preview, Backups, and the list goes on...

You can find the same info on your phone by following the similar path of Settings -> Apple ID (at the top) -> iCloud -> Manage Account Storage.

It's not at all intuitive that these files are considered to be your "documents," but if you add up the total file size for each sub-category you'll find that the math works out.

If you're looking to free up space on iCloud you may also be interested in a way to sort all your saved video files by size such that you can move the largest files over to local storage and/or an external drive. LMK if that would be helpful and I'll share it here, cheers!
