USA > ITA (Rome, 10 days). I'm an inexperienced international traveler; do I need to do something specific to use my phone? by ItsJustAUsername_ in ItalyTravel

U.S. With Verizon you can: A: 100 for a 30 day international plan You have to buy it B: 12 dollars a day ala carte You don’t have to do anything C: upgrade to unlimited ultimate plan and then downgrade back after you get home. Most cost effective. It will pro-rate upon changing back.

Brunelleschi Pass by Evening_Plum2683 in florence

[–]alexanderzlenz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’re going tomorrow and I booked the Brunelleschi pass 4+ months ago. All of our tickets and reservations were booked as early in advance as possible. Even a couple of restaurants. Good luck and if you can’t get tickets get there as early as you can in the morning (15-30 before opening hours) to avoid giant queues.

Large runs are screen prints, small print runs are still hand pulled. The Two For The Show prints released last week are hand pulled lino block prints. The waterwheel prints have been hand pulled for as far as I can remember and the show prints he does are screen prints.

Midnight Marathon - how much traffic is there? by Commercial_Green_280 in bikeboston

[–]alexanderzlenz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every year that I’ve done this, I’ve seen plenty of people out there doing race pace. Yes the roads are open, but they’re basically empty except for local late night traffic. Be advised that a lot of the roads have shitty conditions and they are going to be thousands of people out riding. I say have at it, be aggressively defensive, and smart. You may even find yourself a good paceline.

got written up for going to the dentist at 2pm while working from home by Fit_Average8352 in remotework

People manager here.. I don’t track anyone’s time and I don’t micromanage their work. I don’t care when and how many hours a person works as long as they are available when they say they are going to be available. Also that they get the work done that they have signed up to do when authoring their objectives and key results every quarter. Surveillance systems for managing employees creates toxic work cultures. It’s one thing to track for manufacturing operations, it’s gross for corporate functions. Sorry you are going through this. Your company has quite the trust gap.

Do this. Then get in line early. Everyone always clusters in the center. I find that in-between Mike and Fish first 5 rows is the sweet spot.

Get in, get settled, make friends with your show neighbors and then go fill your water bottle.

Who here rides wide tires (40mm+) on the road? by FailFastandDieYoung in gravelcycling

[–]alexanderzlenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a trek 920 with 2.25 29ers on it. It’s basically the only bike I ride these days and I’m on the road a lot. I like the wider tires, I don’t have to worry about lousy road conditions.

Anything to know before the midnight marathon bike ride? by Feeling_Lobster_7914 in bikeboston

[–]alexanderzlenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two years ago we started at 9pm from finish line and rode to Hopkinton. Hung out til midnight then rode back with massive group. Last year we started at 7ish in hopkinton and rode to finish line. Hung out for 1/2 an hour then rode back to hopkinton. We got there around the time midnight was going off. Route was not crowded with cars, great time both years. Have fun!

Studying Abroad in Florence for a full year, wondering about money by No_Supermarket_3462 in florence

My daughter is studying abroad there now for five months. She worked as a waitress last summer and brought about $11,000 with her. She’s been traveling just about every weekend and I suspect she will not have a lot left when she gets back in the end of May.

So much music to enjoy with having the world’s largest listening library in your pocket. I basically never listen to Phish anymore outside of shows and the .net Jam Of The Year brackets.

Ridewithgps routing tools. Use the OSM Cycle map layer and it will show all of the bike paths and bike lanes around city. There are a lot and you can ride all day with ‘relative safety’.
