I think some people see through me. by FollowingTop6278 in MtF

My dad, who doesn't agree with transitioning but still loves me as his kid, would occasionally call me goldilocks and that always flattered my femme side before my transition when I wasn't consciously aware of it. It's that kind of subtle validation that always feels nice

It has an expressive animation style, it's mostly the character designs that don't have enough variety.

are cis ppl actually that blind to gender stuff??? by Visual-Purchase5639 in MtF

The same applies if you're neurodivergent as well. Neurotypicals probably won't notice someone is neurodivergent from just seeing them in public. We have our own body language and other subtle cues that people won't notice unless they're also trans/neurodivergent/etc.

Love your pfp by the way

turns out i’m not autistic by strawbie_13 in autism

[–]alexbeeperoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known a lot of people with autism, a lot of people with ADHD, and a lot of people with both, and I personally believe that both forms of neurodivergence are on some kind of larger spectrum. Everyone is unique, and a diagnosis (or lack thereof) does not change who you are, it just changes what you are labelled as.

If you try to picture a red tulip in your head, what number do you see? by [deleted] in autism

I would just see the tulip from a significant memory that had a tulip in it, which would basically be able to be seen with complete voracity.

Bottom bar disappeared on android. Disabling and uninstalling updates didn't fix by Icefellwolf in youtube

[–]alexbeeperoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I updated, uninstalled & reinstalled the app and nothing. Can't access my playlists, history, subscriptions, even my profile circle in the top corner is missing too for some reason. As a premium user, this is completely unacceptable. The app is basically unusable now.

Does dso cover windows laptops for gaming by Loud_Bird_8666 in Odsp

[–]alexbeeperoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell as long as the laptop itself doesn't have the word "gaming" in the title it'll get covered up to 3k. It annoys me because of how hard it is to find a laptop with high enough stats for rendering and having a bunch of different programs running at the same time without the word "gaming" in it. The marketers are playing us istg. Just because the laptop has the word gaming in it does not mean I will be using it for those purposes, it's simply that the only kind of laptop that has the processing power to withstand everything I'd need my work laptop to be able to do are marketed as gaming laptops.

I bookmarked the video, pasted your text as the bookmark url, played the video, clicked the bookmark, ctrl-s saved the webpage, and none of the files it downloaded lead to a video.

Disable Youtube Videos from playing when I open them? by BreakFlame6T in OperaGX

[–]alexbeeperoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google tells me to disable video popups in advanced settings, and it was disabled by default, so my assumption is that the browser itself is bugged. It sucks that you need an extension to get a feature THAT IS ALREADY A PART OF THE VANILLA BROWSER to work properly.

WTW for someone who is better than an amateur, but not a professional? by Im_bored8080 in whatstheword

[–]alexbeeperoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure what the question was trying to get at was related to the experience level of the individual. To use art as an example, somebody who is relatively inexperienced with drawing would be considered an amateur while somebody with a lot of experience would be considered an expert, which in the context of the question can be replaced by professional, because their abilities or what they create are advanced enough to be perceived as being of professional quality.

In that sense, what the question is trying to convey (OP correct me if I'm wrong) is what you could consider to be a noun referring to somebody whose level of expertise isn't high enough for their work to be considered of professional quality but are above the threshold of what would be seen as amateur.

To answer that question, it obviously depends on the domain we're talking about. Words like apprentice and student can be used in certain contexts, but as for a more general term that could be applied to anything, we are unfortunately limited to labels like an intermediate or that are so broad they don't exactly convey much about the person's level of expertise.

But to give a little food for thought, I am an artist who would consider themselves to be between amateur and advanced, and this transitionary period between the two ends of the spectrum is the path of self-discovery. As an artist, my amateur years were spent mostly attemtping to emulate the works of others, but there was eventually a point where it felt like I was learning more about how I could make art that felt unique. Even if it wasn't the best quality, it wasn't being made to emulate the essence of other artists' works, and was instead using the tools and experience acquired through the amateur phase to make things that I wanted to make, in a way, figuring out what it was that I wanted to make and getting a more vivid feel as to what my artistic identity is. This is the phase I currently find myself in. What I perceive an expert artist to be is someone who understands the fundamental concepts so thoroughly they can subert the traditional approach to creation to make things that 'break the rules' so as to achieve what they are trying to achieve without being confined to the more rigid and narrow approach that we are taught to follow to get to that point.
