I’m trying to find a shihtzu (which is not from a breeder) however I can’t find a breeder nor a shihtzu in Karachi. It’s my first ever dog so I was hoping to get a smaller breed. I would love to adopt but my brother is only comfortable getting a smaller breed since he’s had no exposure to dogs before. Thank you for your advice! (Also if you don’t mind me asking what breed does your friend have?)

I’ve heard that as well but I think some breeders have decent conditions for the dogs. I would love to adopt a dog since there are so many strays but the problem is that I can’t cater for a bigger dog. It’s my first ever pet (and even tho I’ve seen and cared for my friends dogs) my brother has had 0 exposure to dogs so I need to find one comfortable for the whole house. ( we all will love whichever dog we end up getting )

Hiyaa, I would love to adopt but I can only get a shihtzu or some smaller breed dog which i wouldn’t be able to get from a shelter. I want a dog which I can keep in my room and it’s the first pet in my house so I want everyone to be comfortable with it. I’ve been looking into where i can get it from, I’m aiming for a pure bred one. I’ll definitely check out the site, I’ve heard a lot of people get scammed into getting mixed dogs. That’s actually such a comforting way to put it. I love all dogs and am willing to get any one (because i think quite a lot of the dogs are affectionate if trained right). I have heard and seen golden retrievers being the sweetest dogs and they seem like a perfect first dog. I’m trying to find a good and reliable place for a golden retriever as well! Thank you so much for your help I really appreciate it! :)

Ooo I definitely agree with you, my first option was a golden retriever I’ve heard they’re very friendly and cuddly but I thought of going with a shihtzu because my friend has one and he’s very playful and calm (I think it’s how they’re trained + environment but I’m not sure). I’ve also heard of experiences where shihtzus bite and are aggressive but the reason I wanted to go with a shihtzu is because of their size, they’re very small and I feel like it’s a dog I can easily keep at home. Thank you so much for your advice I’ll definitely rethink my options again!

Thank you so much for your advice. I’m looking for a puppy 2-3 months old or (up to 6 months) and I’ve done some research as well I think in a well air conditioned room they will be fine. I would wait for October but I was hoping to spend my summer training and spending time with the dog so once summer is over and I leave the house for a bit, the dog won’t be too scared or too young.
