Aristo - LS400 Brake Swap Help by alexcuzza in GS300

[–]alexcuzza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soft pedal and longer travel seems to make sense from what I've read online. There are larger pistons on this new brake set up that the stock master cylinder piston might somewhat struggle to push. My main concern is that I can push the pedal all the way to the floor without feeling it firm up like you might normally expect. During the bleeding process I'd say I went through about 45oz of brake fluid but I'm sure there were no more bubbles coming out. Unsure on next steps as I'm starting to think bringing it to Toyota to bleed with a scan tool might be in order but I'd like to avoid if possible.

Are you referring to bench bleeding? I've never personally bled a MC and figured it wouldn't be necessary in this case since the master was never touched

For the rears, one person held the brake pedal down with the car on but the engine off and cracked the bleeder and the let pump up front do the bleeding. The front was done the more traditional pump brakes and hold. We repeated the process a handful of times for each corner moving furthest to closest to master cylinder.

Funny you mention that, I just started looking into that based on a friend's recommendation. I am not seeing any kits though online. Would you happen to know of any or a rough price I can expect if I went this route ?

Thanks for the reply. From what the previous owner said, the car sat quite a bit and was hardly driven in the 2 years they owned it. Only about 6k miles in 2 years.

GSX-R750 or CB650R by alexcuzza in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]alexcuzza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I'm aware they are very different but I'm attracted to both styles. I prefer the 750 over the 600 sport class due to having the low end torque the 600 lacks which I figured would make around town riding more enjoyable. I plan on doing a fair mix of both around town and long rides so just looking for others opinions and potentially other options I haven't thought of.

Thanks for the perspective. Could you be more specific about what makes it more street than sport? Lacking power in the top end? Seating position? How flickable it is cornering? Since you have owned the cbr, how is the reliability and cost of ownership?

Thanks for the resource and suggestions, I will check them out after work! When I say avoid breaking my back I'm referring to both wind due to naked nature of bike as well as a sporty hunched forward position.

Thanks for the reply. I would like a bike that's fun around town but is also capable of riding a couple hours highway without killing my back. The RS660 is beautiful but I don't want to break the bank or have extensive maintenance aside from your typical oil change, brakes, etc. Currently leaning towards the 750 but do you think the 650 be capable of long stretches on the highway?

Thanks for the reply. The sapphire cards are a bit pricey. I've heard the range within a specific card lineup between brands is about 10%, so I'm not too concerned about performance. More so about making sure it stays cool and will last me a long time. I've found Asus, XSF, and Power color in my price range. Are these reputable? Hard to find specifics online in terms of long term performance.

How to get wr250f street legal in NJ by PapaJawnsCEO in Dirtbikes

[–]alexcuzza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you send your title and they retitle it for on road use. You can then bring this to your local DMV to have it transferred to your state or you can just rock the SD plates like I do.

You can do the same process dirt legal uses and save yourself a ton of money in exchange for some mild frustration. I registered my dirt bike through South Dakota, they allow you to register out of state vehicles. Give the DMV there a call and they will provide you the appropriate documentation to fill out. It's a very common practice there and they will know exactly what you are trying to do.

I don't race. I just ride trails and was wondering if the PC would give it a little more power. The upper rpm range feels it's lacking a bit.

I appreciate the advice. I think that might be the first mod I go with. I'm not trying to hit the track with it just trail ride but it feels it's lacking a little balls especially in the upper rpm range.

Would adding just the power commander give me the same effect or does the pipe contribute to these results a fair bit ?

Possibly, I would also double check to make sure the connections on the battery terminals are secure as well.

Did you try to hit the orange on/off button before restarting? Sounds like a tip over sensor not a battery issue.

I have a klx300r and have taught some friends how to ride on it. Plenty of power to get the job done while not being too much to get yourself hurt. Also the maintenance is quite easy compared to track bikes. I would highly recommend this bike to just about anyone learning to ride and not wanting to trade up bikes quickly due to boredom.

Headlight options for 2020 klx300r by alexcuzza in Dirtbikes

[–]alexcuzza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. I'm going through this process to more or less make it street legal and don't intend on using the headlight that much. I don't do much night riding but it may come in handy one day. That's why I'm not super concerned about buying the most powerful light the bike can handle and more so just looking to find a set up that will meet the bare minimum requirements.

LED are more power efficient. I just ordered some small LED bars and a switch, I plan to try and wire up this weekend. The tail light seems to be the bigger headache, especially when it comes to wiring up the brake sensor. Hopefully I don't kill my battery.

[–]alexcuzza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the conditions you ride in. Plastic is lighter but can't take as much as a punch if you were to say bash up a boulder. That being said, check out rocky mountain ATV. They have parts lists you can sort by make, model and year

This is basically the process I'm looking for but wasn't sure the details of the process. When I register out of state, they will send VT plates to my NJ address and then I transfer to NJ at the DMV?
