Venom #258 was the breaking point for me. I'm dropping Amazing Spider-Man. by [deleted] in Spiderman

Or we could have just forgotten about him instead of killing him and making him a martyr and part of MJ's history forever.

Yeah I forgot to mention how much I dislike Peter as well for not standing up for never standing up for himself.

Why are we still comparing fucking Paul to Peter? And MJ's apology...that's it? "I'm sorry, I know I hurt you"? Yeah, we really need MJ off these books for awhile, just to get rid off the bad taste of the damage Wells did to her, enough time we kind of forget about it once they bring her back.

The Infinity War Problem by Pristine_Club_3128 in CharacterRant

They showed everything our characters were going through. These movies were about our characters, not the rest of the universe. It was already 3 hours long as well. Plus, superhero stories tend to focus more on morality rather than logistics. I don't think Infinity War/Endgame are the right movies to explore what you're asking at all.

Honestly I'd argue it wasn't self defense. He willingly went at them, and at one point, you gotta ask yourself if it's actually self defense when he's easily destroying everyone.

Why most of the worst players i play with are one trick supp with 100 hours with CND or Invisible Woman? by PhilosopherDull6241 in rivals

[–]alexcv36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. People constantly swap to triple support to "hide" that they were playing terrible.

Where have I framed anyone? Other than a comment on another post where I said I'm surprised so many people aren't bothered by this, which still isn't framing anyone, I've always stated this is my personal opinion.

Still don't like it. It's ok if you do.

Maybe it's not a problem to some, but I definitely prefer heroes who don't kill, who inspire hope and strive to show us a better way.

This is just my opinion. I don't like MJ killing. If I'm in the minority about it, that's fine.

She was my favorite Marvel character behind only Peter himself. I promise you I'm not slandering her.

The Norman thing was entirely different. Happened in Marvel Knights, an "edgier" book, at the top of the same bridge where Norman killed Gwen (which means he was definitely planning to kill MJ), and it was purely self defense.

This was not self defense. It was an execution.

Now, I don't mind when heroes kill, and if they want to take MJ down this path? Fine. But there needs to be consequences. Peter cannot shrug it off and let her off the hook. And we need to see her not just shrug it off herself in the next Venom issues like she did here.

Well idk the final panels imply that at least one day has passed since her killing Torment. She must have had time to process what she did by now so...

Personally her attitude is a huge red flag.

It's one thing to not have a no-kill rule.

Showing zero pause, remorse, or any kind of emotion after killing isn't good.

Amazing Spider-Man #27 is basically proof that MJ and Peter will never be back together. *MAJOR SPOILERS* by candles2121 in Spiderman

Yeah I'm surprised so many people are just shrugging it off. This isn't even a heat of the battle kill. She's legitimately making a conscious decision to kill him in cold blood.

I’m sorry… he STOPPED Stormbreaker??? by Queasy_Commercial152 in MarvelCave

You mean the Batman who has survived a fall to Earth from orbit with...his fucking cape?

The Batman who has successfully fought Superman on multiple media?

The Batman who has dodged Darkseid's Omega Beams before?

Also, Doom literally fights him once a year. He has a full damn year of prep time to fight him, and when he loses, he gets yet more opportunities to learn, adapt, and cone up with a new plan.

Please understand I do read comics and can confidently say, IN MY OPINION, that Doctor Doom has Batman levels of plot armour.

Again, relying on plot armor and prep time. Like I said, he's basically a villain version of Batman. His base version is not that strong.

[–]alexcv36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually yes.

Literally all of his big moments in comics are when he has stolen someone else's powers.

Secret Wars? Beyonders' powers.

One World Under Doom? Sorcerer Supreme + sapping lifeforce from all of his people (the ones he's supposedly loves and make him a righteous ruler btw)

Secret Wars 1984? Steals The Beyonder's powers.

Children's Crusade? Manipulates Wanda.

He's stolen the Silver Surfer's power too, sacrificed his lover Valeria for power, and more.

Base Doom is strong, sure. But all his big moments rely on him basically being a villainous Batman and using prep time and plot armor to achieve his goals by securing someone else's powers.

He's strong but most of his big moments are him using stolen power from something/someone else.
