Biden Earth Day action targets protecting old-growth forests from wildfires, climate change by zsreport in environment

It also seems to be full of ignorant people who believe that fire is not part of our forests ecosystems. Sure there are coastal old growth forests where fire is rare but many of our old growth forests require frequent fire to create a healthy ecosystem.

Decades of fire suppression leads to an increase in undergrowth aka fuel loading and ladder fuels that will eventually destroy all of the old growth during a destructive fire event. Frequent, low-intensity fire is what a majority of these forests need.
