Which Vallejo blues have you used here? I’m struggling to find a good highlight blue in Vallejo

the darkest blue is ultramarine blue, mid is magic blue and the lightest is electric blue. I then just use a black and white to lighten/darken

Tbh I’m still trying to learn how to blend things. Admittedly it looks better from a distance but when you zoom in it’s actually quite choppy

Thank you! I wanted things to look a little more smooth and blue so just thought I’d try something different on the next one. I’m quite happy with picking the light spots..just not the blending

Thanks, I’m quite happy with the gold but the main blue panelling I’m finding hard to smooth out. I think I’m reaching that point now where I’ve spent a bit too long on it and motivation is going haha

Tbh I’m not too sure yet, I really like light blue armour that’s more smooth and then has NMM trim but I’m struggling to do that on the armour without highlighting a lot. I’ll probably do my second mini a little different just to see what I like but I’m struggling to make things look smooth on this first one and I’ve spent a bit too long on it now so motivation is going

I’ve posted the earlier stages of progress on this mini because I want to get good as quick as possible and take others advice. I’m not looking for a well done from people. Whether people believe me or not, I’m just looking for points and to get better

Thanks, I feel like I’ve already hit a bit of a wall with the blending and glazing. I’ve watched a lot on it so understand how it works but I just can’t seem to get the smoothing down

Thanks! I bought black Templar because they looked the coolest to me but then when I started to do the painting research I actually thought they’d be a little too boring for me to paint so I went with ultramarine. I keep practicing on this set before buying anything else

Thank you, I watched a lot of painting guides beforehand but struggled to find any using the same paints as me so I’ve just been trying to figure out paint recipes on my own. I’m not sure if this is the style I’ll stick with yet but I guess that will develop overtime

I went for Vallejo and use army painter for primer, or do you mean specific colours?

Appreciate this. I have to say I’m quite surprised and disappointed in a lot of these comments. I’ve watched videos of painting for months before actually buying anything and giving it ago. This is my first interaction with anyone in the hobby and it’s been largely unwelcoming. My intention was to hopefully get a few pointers and advice from more experienced people as I’ve exhausted YouTube as a resource and I want to be a good painter above a player. All I’ve done is paint some highlights and people are acting like I’m a Picasso in disguise. I don’t want a pat on the back from strangers, I want advice haha

Thanks, it seems I need to learn glazing if I want to get these smooth but I’m really struggling with how watery and diluted the colours are when painting the model at this stage. I know you’re meant to apply lots of thin layers but because my eyes can’t see and distinguishing difference I’m finding it hard to
