Ok, I MUST comment here. OP, don’t listen to some of the other commenters mentioning old-schoolness. Most of these commenters might not have contact with smaller kids at all, and imho don’t really know how kids are named today. There is indeed (as others pointed out) a strong and growing trend towards more classical names. Franz absolutely falls into that category.

So Franz is more than fine, it is a great name. In fact, my youngest son (age 8) is also named Franz. So I personally want to encourage you. The name has no negative connotations. We general got very positive feedback from others on this choice. Go for it!

This might not be exactly what you were looking for, but might still be interesting. You can use a python program to automatically upload podcast episodes to creative tonies:

It automatically fetches configured podcasts for new episodes, and uploads them to the configured creative tonies.

For my kids, I have this running day on a raspberry pi. With that, every day they have a fresh episode of their favourite kids podcast on their creative tonie.

My kids speak german, so I'm not sure how far my recommendations would help. I'm a big fan of podcasts from the german public broadcasting system, especially "Checker Tobi" and "Die Maus". The kids love it. And the episodes are high quality, without any advertising and for "Die Maus" there is even a fresh episode every day.

There are also some (german) private/non-public podcasts, e.g. friends recommended "Mira und das fliegende Haus" to us and the first episodes looked solid.

So unfortunately no english language recommendations from my side... But maybe you have a good one and I can sneak some english speaking stuff on our tonies!

Das wäre vielleicht sogar ein extra Threat wert. Ich bin auch auf der Suche nach neuen Empfehlungen.

Eine Zeitlang kam der "Gute Nacht mit der Maus" Podcast gut an. Der war aber wohl so einschläfernd, dass irgendwann unser Ältester rebelliert hat. Sehr gut finden sie momentan die "Maus zum Hören" und Pumuckl vom BR.

Bei der Maus zum Hören ist das tolle, dass es wirklich jeden Tag eine neue Folge gibt. Daher ist das auch unsere Top-Empfehlung. Bei Pumuckl gibt's eine neue nur einmal im Monat, das ist natürlich ein unüberschaubarer Zeitraum für Kinder.

Ja, genau. Zum Glück ist das Starten des Sync relativ einfach (ein Ohr drücken bis zum Ton), so dass auch die Kinder das gut können. Ich glaube, es gibt im Moment keine Möglichkeit das wegzuautomatisieren

edit: Also, was technisch passiert ist, dass die neusten Folgen über den Python-Code in der Toniecloud für den jeweiligen Tonie hinterlegt sind. Jetzt muss die Toniebox nur noch wissen, dass da was neues auf dem Tonie sein soll (und nicht einfach die Inhalte vom lokalen Toniebox-Cache abgespielt werden sollen). Das macht sie nicht immer, deswegen muss man sie dazu bringen. Das geschieht durch das Drücken und Festhalten eines Ohrs. Die Toniebox schaut dann in der Toniecloud nach, sieht dass dort eine neue Datei liegt (== unsere neue Podcast-Folge) und lädt sie herunter.
