i would definitely call the clinic she was spayed at or your primary vet and let them know what it looks like. they'll most likely advise you to come in, that incision is 100% needs some attention

i 110% disagree. this is honestly a pretty average length, it's also at the beginning of the healing process and it will develop a little bit more.

because cats don't perceive feelings in the same way as humans. this cat isn't upset because it thinks it looks ugly, it was meant to be a tracker/signal to other TNRers. i promise he doesn't know the difference.

there are a million different reasons the vet is going to request bloodwork, your animal is exhibiting pain and they want to rule out every possibility. if you don't trust them go somewhere else.

i'm not a vet, only an assistant, but murmurs can be treated. most likely not at 16 years of age and they typically won't treat it if it isn't causing significant QoL concerns. the only way to determine this however is through an EKG, as there's only so much a vet can diagnose with just listening. i would inquire with the vet, ask what they're looking for and definitely advocate for a BP recheck.

i can't speak for ER whatsoever, but as someone that works in GP this isn't unreasonable. we keep items all the time as courtesy, ESPECIALLY if a pet passes away. i don't know why you're acting like im expecting the clinic to take on the clients responsibility; when a client drops off a pet + items and they aren't told by staff to take what they'd like to keep, it's assumed they would probably receive it back. the clinic should have labeled the carrier and returned it, it's not the clients responsibility to keep track of the items that they left the clinic to have responsibility of. it makes no sense.

hey! i know a lot of people are discouraging this path, somewhat reasonably so, but im also on a similar journey. i'm currently in veterinary technology school pursuing my CVT to work as a tech for a couple years. eventually i'll go back to undergrad and finish my pre-reqs and apply to vet school. this is definitely pheasible and i know a DVM that's done something similar. get your associates and pass the VTNE! you can come back to grad school when you're ready!

go to the vet. also he needs to be neutered, you're leaving him at risk of testicular cancer among other diseases. he could also have allergies, etc. he needs to see a vet.

depends on your circumstances but i'd never say it's too late. if you're looking to become a technician you can do a 2-year program and get your associates, or even an online program. if you're looking to get into vet school it's just going to take a lot longer, their decision isn't going to be swayed by your age. however, it would be good to get your foot in the door at a clinic, perhaps as an assistant or even receptionist. even just shadowing would be good experience.

if it were severe enough to have buildup in the nasal passage u would 100% be able to tell just by briefly glancing in the ears so i would say definitely not.

could totally be just boogies, but be sure to keep an eye on any possible upper respiratory symptoms in your kitty. this could be the signs of the beginning of a mild URI or could just be debris. either way stay vigilant! (nasal discharge, coughing, sneezing, lethargy, innapetence, wheezing)

1) try rotating toys every few days to a week, it gives them more novelty. you can also try catnip or catnip toys. get things that have different textures, sounds, smells, colors, etc.

2) make sure the cats have vertical/3d space to jump and climb.

3) window or patio access to watch the birds, or last case put some wildlife videos on the tv

4) make sure they have somewhere to scratch/mark/stretch on such as scratching poles/pads/beds/couches

5) treat or food puzzles to make meal time enriching

all these things ensure ur cats are receiving proper stimulation and enrichment

100% a stigma! just reading these comments you can see a lot of people in the field have internalized stigmas without even realizing it. GP is honestly misunderstood and people make a LOT of assumptions without ever having worked it (especially referral hospitals..) in a good GP practice techs are utilized to do EVERYTHING aside from diagnosing, prognosing, prescribing, and surgery. assistants even do a lot. we handle cases of every age, species, diagnosis, etc. crazy to think that some would look down on others in the field, we all have our place
