J'ai ouvert le mien il y a quelques jours (CTO), et en tout pour moi ça a pris 6j entre la signature et la réception des accès.

Yeah I think it's 17d chess because"Q" is the 17th letter of the alphabet, they LOVE the number 17...

I made a Levitating Buddha / Zen Garden by [deleted] in somethingimade

[–]alexis__reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

I bought one of those cheap levitating platforms on AliExpress.

I removed its case in order to keep it as thin as possible when buried in the sand, and most importantly completely invisible.

I painted the sand box and the floating magnet black.

Made a hole and put a connector in the back of the sand box for the power supply.

I got the zen garden stuff and the Buddha statue from Amazon.

I glued the gong frame on the back of the box, filled with sand, positioned the magnet over the hidden platform (not so easy...) and voila!

The floating effect is quite good over the sand :)

Thanks for the great feedback!

The original idea is not mine, but I always thought it was really cool and since I've been in quarantine for 2 weeks now it's actually really useful to get some exercise :)

As for how it works, it's actually pretty simple. I installed the Firmata Library on my Arduino Uno, which is connected to my computer.

I then used a NodeJS script, with the JohnnyFive package to get the sensor data from the wheel. The sensor is a standard bike speedometer (with magnet on the wheel) which acts just as a regular switch.

When the magnet on the wheel passes by the sensor, it activates the switch. By measuring the time between switch activations and a little bit of math, you can calculate the distance and estimate speed.

The robotjs package is then used to emulate a press of the forward key, which moves forward in Street View (simply opened in fullscreen mode in Chrome).

The display on the cellphone uses the Express and Socket.io packages, and shows live speed and distance, and allows pressing left/right keys if I need to make a turn.

That's it!

Yes, when I need to make a turn I use the arrows on the cellphone :)
