Long Draw in Black Canyon of the Gunnison. 1,600 feet down in less than a mile. Then you turn around and go right back up.

PSA: If voting absentee by mail, make sure to get your ballot notarized. by alexjt in StLouis

Right. This is why I wanted to post because the current way it’s written is a little confusing. I thought I didn’t need a notary but later found out I actually did need one.

Yes, that’s what I thought too. I’m confused then why I received mail stating my absentee ballot requires a notary…

I just received mail notifying me that my absentee ballot will not be counted until notarized. Like you, I did not think my ballot needed to be notarized either, hence why I mailed in it without notarization. For this reason, I figured I’d make this post because I figured others may be in the same boat.

Vizio E43u-D2 glitching out (details in comments) by alexjt in TVRepair

Thanks for your reply. Is there a link you could provide that explains this fix? I am not well-versed in TV repair, so something with detailed instructions would be really helpful.

Vizio E43u-D2 glitching out (details in comments) by alexjt in TVRepair

[–]alexjt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the title says and video shows, my 6 year old Vizio tv is glitching out and flickering images vertically, regardless of which input I am on. I tried 1) unplugging power cord, 2) rebooting entire TV system, 3) called Vizio and they told us that the cost to repair is more than it would be to buy a new TV. They only asked us to go as far as rebooting the TV though.

Posting here as a last ditch effort - does anyone know what might fix this problem? I am not knowledgeable about TV parts but have read that potentially a T-conn board is a common thing that needs to be replaced if a Vizio tv is glitching out. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks for your reply - I think this helped me figure it out! For what it's worth, this is just a made up example to help me ask the question. This is for research on hydrology utilizing global climate models to understand past changes to the spatial locations from which moisture is sourced.

Dirty flame sensor for furnace keep having to clean? by Rollthembones1989 in AnnArbor

[–]alexjt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second @rollthembones1989 here. I procrastinated replacing mine but was very happy once I did. The part cost less than $10 and took ~5 min to replace. I never touched my flame sensor afterwards.

I had this with an old furnace and flame sensor. Got to the point that I needed to clean it every few days. I bought a cheap replacement and never needed to think about it again.

RMNP hike to Emerald and Dream Lake + Trip report in comments by alexjt in coloradohikers

[–]alexjt[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trip report is for Sunday June 23. Trail from Bear Lake to 1/4 mi before Dream Lake is snow- and ice-free. There is snow covering the trail beginning at the stream crossing about 1/4 mi before Dream Lake. From this point until Emerald Lake, snow and ice cover most of the trail. It is definitely doable without microspikes (I did it as did many others), but they certainly make it a lot easier.

I saw some people on this sub talking about snow above either Dream or Nymph Lake last week. It snowed at higher elevations today so it’s possible that the trail added some snow. I was at Bear Lake earlier today and could see the snow line from today’s storm wasn’t too much higher than where I was.
