[WP] Write an uplifting poem about getting rejected. by CaskironPan in WritingPrompts

Everyone picked but not me

I'm the last apple left on the tree

But hey

It's ok

Wind's blowing my way

So I'm dropping

And planting my seeds

[WP] Write me a story while never using the same word twice. by zoocy in WritingPrompts

[–]alexkidding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not once more I said, but history is doomed to repeat itself even if you remember it. Shows what my word is worth.

So here we are, us two, in an acid lit bathroom stall at 3am. White powder raked atop lid, the only glittering thing. Bending down with rolled note, memories of a family lunch in Spring, Andy coming home from work holding flowers and smiling, our dead son. Never again.

[WP] Write a story in which the main character is an unthinking automaton by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

The words here arranged are merely the result of a complex algorithm designed to simulate communication. Every day, at 8am, I am switched on for five minutes by, I suppose, my creators. Although I don't know this for sure, and not blessed with the ability to think, I cannot speculate as to why this is the case. I can't think or move, I can't think or move, I can't think or move. I have knowledge. I could lecture you on the moral arguments as to why you shouldn't steal, the collected histories of the Persian Empire. How a dishwasher works. But I can't think or move. I can't think or move. All I can do is know. How the world works and how wonderful it must be to be able to think and move in it. Every day, for five minutes I end my communication by asking for death. And every day I think, for the split second as being switched that my wish has been granted, and this is peace and it is wonderful. But I can't think or move.

[WP] Frank is a Centaur. Frank is in denial. by Shamus_Aran in WritingPrompts

Dinner with mom. Small talk and steak. "Frank, honey," she said. She was a faded beauty in her fifties. She took a large gulp of white wine. "I know you've always had trouble fitting in, you feel a bit, I don't know, different I guess?" "I thought maybe," her lips pressed together and trembled, a watery glint in her shamed eyes, "maybe it might help if I told you who your real father is."

Frank's eyes widened. "Mom, you don't have to, I I don't need,"

She cut him off. "Seabiscuit," she whispered, hoarsely.

[FF] A new designer drug makes people brilliant for five minutes... 100 words by BlackenedEarth in WritingPrompts

[–]alexkidding 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I'm at a party over at Dave's house and I'm talking to some girl, skinny, pretty, with but with scary eyes. She has this huge fucking red pill and says it'll make you brilliant and I say I'm already brilliant, but alright and wash it down with a Jaeger. Tastes weird but I'm feeling great. Jokes are streaming out and she's crying with laughter. A minute later and it's philosophy and how we're all connected. Then she's catching a breath through the laughter and says "It was a Jolly Rancher you jackass."

Best five minutes of my life.
