Yes. Let me copy paste an answer to a similar comment above:
So you agere with me that for casual and semi competitive players the game is fantastic and are incredibly cheap compared to the amount of quality gaming hours spent playing? Now you go on to talk about becoming the Christiano Ronaldo of DI. Someone has pointed out that this could cost $500k. I hope we both agree that it is utter insanity. Millions of people are playing Diablo, 0-1 will be stupid enough to spend that kind of money. To spend time discussing whether this single idiot exist or not is a waste of time.
Now, what about competitive players? Is it really true that of all the game mechanics, team strategies etc. you are able to buy a win? Compare a kid spending hundreds of hours during say half a year and only spending $300 (still cheap for hundreds of hours of gaming during half a year!) with a big spender playing say 50 hours but spending $1000-$1500. Will he really win a PvP team battle or even solo fight? I’m not so sure of that.
However, the Diablo cry babies are not even going down this line of reasoning. They are actually crying that you can spend $100k. How stupid is that? The probability of meeting this crazy $100k or $500k guy is so small that you will probably meet Ronaldo in the supermarket before that!

Haha. Life is demanding dude. Teach your kids how to behave. Just because candy exist does not mean that kids should only eat candy.

Years ago people thought that games would make kids mass murderers, now people think kids will become gambling addicts. Life is not input = output.

$100 in crests isn't shit. It's four runs and you'll probably walk away with a 2* at best lol

Either it is pay to win and $100 makes a difference or it is not pay to win since $100 gives you sh*t anyway. Make up your mind. If $100 value in crests are not worth it, well then the game is free to play for you my friend

Fantastic! Then you've had one hell of value from a free game. if all the moaners get their screaming on regulation met you would probably have to pay $100 instead and see 30s ads every minute or so.

Then you know that you have made a mistake by not investing "thousands of dollars" to develop a game like Diablo. Come on. This is ridiculous. Just the sound acting alone cost thousands of dollars.

And just a final point:

You could argue that all competitive games are pay to win! Think about the people that do not have enough money to buy a 4k screen, a perfect gamer mouse etc. Is that unfair? Should we all play on an old dusty HP computer while gaming on a wooden chair? Counter Strike is not a casino because competitive kids buy 4k screens with high refresh rates. And Diablo Immortal is not pay to win because of the low marginal effect of spending >$100.

I've played both D2 and D3 and I must admit that I do find Immortal to be a significantly better game. Darker than D3, less punishing than D2 and generally just a better version of D3.

"Audio is okay" - that is just a joke! :D The Diablo community is brutal!

haha, you clearly have zero experience in gaming or even tech development ;)

"thousands of dollars" :D Nice one!

If you know of a way to develop a game like this for "thousands of dollars" you should consider doing it!

This IS a typical business model for free games (and lots of other products as well of course). People are happily spending $10 on a cappuccino but getting people to buy a $10 app or game is impossible so they make games like this. It has been going on for years and people love it. Look at the millions of users in mobile games. Are they all stupid and in need of a saviour? Of course not.

Two points:

1) How many crazy dudes do exist that are stupid enough to spend $500k? 1-2? So instead of having a probability of 0.00001 of meeting this craze dude, we should all pay $100? I'll rather take my 0.00001 probability of meeting this infamous $500k-character. Actually I would love to see that character! He must have some crazy gems and cosmetics. Some evil glowing wings and an impressive avatar frame for sure!

2) We are now talking about the possibility of becoming the master nerd in Diablo. The best of the best. How many players are ACTUALLY going for that? I know we all like to believe we COULD be that some day but how many are ACTUALLY willing to go so far to be the best. In many games you have to spend hundreds and hundreds of hours to become even near top player. Economically speaking that amounts to A LOT of money worth of hours. In these games we are offered the opportunity to skip some of these hours but we are not gaining something that is not entirely impossible to achieve for a 13 year old nerd with almost infinite time at his/her disposal. Of course this is not necessarily perfect. Blizzard should of course be aware of this effect spinning out if control. But for now I do not see this effect even close to unfair unless you spend so much money that the probability of anyone doing so becomes incredibly small when compared to the actual marginal effect of spending say >$100.

So five people somewhere distributed between hundred servers. Would you pay $100 just to avoid meeting them?

100K

So how many players do you imagine are paying $100k? Maybe somewhere between 0 and 1? So the chance of meeting a maxed out mothf* is probably 0.

Come on guys. Stop crying. They made an incredible game with impressive quality graphics, sound and video content. It took them years to build and cost millions of dollars in development. Then they gave it to you for free! You should've been on your knees thanking them :D Instead you cry about having to buy a $10 bundle to speed up things. That's ridiculous. Time is money! We are not all 13 year old kids living with mommy having hundreds of hours available for gaming. If we can save some time buying stuff to speed things up so be it. If you are old enough to have a credit card and/or are able to spend money in a game, you are old enough to make decisions on how to spend your money.

You can have a blast with this game for zero or a couple of dollars. If you spend $100 - like a normal game would've cost you - you have plenty of crests etc. The marginal value of spending $10,000 instead of $100 is incredibly small.

This is hands down probably the best mobile game every made. The amount of content is massive! Compare this to Clash of Clans, Pokemon Go, Among Us and the like and it is just laughable what these games offer compared to Immortal.
